All in he spent just over 60 minutes on the pitch for us... He left absolutely no impression, let's be honest!

The only thing I remember of him is running the full length of the pitch to celebrate after Steve Howard scored the late winner against Leeds.

He was dreadful. Came on and gave the ball away continously. We gave him a contract for the next season but thankfully never played him again.

I liked him, and was disappointed he didn’t stay longer. Think he was 32 when he left us and effectively retired - could he have played for longer?

Who was our first choice that season?  Was it Ikeme?  I remember him and David Martin and even Bunn.  Jjst cannot remeber Stockdale.

Tony Warner had a spell in-between the sticks that season too. Carl Ikeme from Wolves was a couple of seasons later.

We had David Martin, Tony Warner, Mark Bunn and David Stockdale all loaned in. We also had Paul Henderson and Conrad Logan already in the squad. That was 2008/09.

 

2010/11 we had Chris Weale and Ricardo along with loaning in Carl Ikeme and Chris Kirkland, and loaning out Logan.

I think Martin played the bulk of games until he got injured. Ikeme didn’t play that much from what I remember. I’d forgot about Bunn

I don’t remember Henderson being part of the League One squad, but you’re probably right.

Rab C Douglas, arguably the worst goalkeeper ever to play for us, despite playing for Scotland 19 times (though that says nowt). Looked him up in Wikipedia and apparently he got to the 2003 UEFA Cup Final with Celtic, under Martin O'Neill.

Kevin Pressman, who rivalled Douglas as a disastrous keeper. He also ruined my first night living in France.

 

We moved on 2 October 2004, and we stayed our first night with some English friends who had been living in the Languedoc for about ten years. We were having a late meal with them, with the telly on in the background (no sound, just pictures). I'm not sure why, because we were in the Second Division at the time, City v Preston was on Match of the Day.

 

I didn't know the score, so when Trevor Benjamin scored (seriously) after four minutes, I thought we were heading for a big victory (I know, I know). Then, on 39 minutes, the PNE keeper Andy Lonergan hoofed a long ball up field and it bounced once, about 30 yards out and went over the head of Pressman, who was standing somewhere around the penalty. He made a vain attempt to flap for the ball, but his feet didn't leave the ground and he landed flat on his back at more or less the same time as the ball bounced into our net. I shouted something like "You fvcking tw@t, Pressman", earning sour-faced looks from everyone, and a three-day penance from my wife.

 

It's here in all its glory.

 

We did sign some donkeys in the 2000s.

Mark Bunn joined, saved a lambert penalty away at the Gas on debut, we won 1-0 Fryatt goal, Hobbs got sent off. Then I think Bunn was recalled fairly soon after. Pretty sure he only played 2-3 games for us

Don't think Conrad played that season. Carl Pentney made a sub appearance.

I have certainly not forgotten Rab played for us... of all the great goalkeepers we have had down the years, it is Rab who is immortalised in my Subbuteo team!
