The Americans consider England a rival. Do you consider them a football rival?

Maybe beat them once before you start asking that question…

Looking at ELO rankings this should be a very tight group. 3 teams all around 20th 21st in the world.  Scotland a little further back if they get through.  Even tho England are clearly a better team reckon all 3 games are going to be tough (like any world cup I guess). First game, also on opening day, in their i suppose you could call it 'home region' Iran will be tricky fixture. Taremi is a good striker for them we have to watch out for.  USA bit like foxes never quit. They usually have a great attitude so even if we take the lead there they ain't going to fold under the pressure. This US team seems more technical then teams of the past so I'm hoping they try and play against us more then they would in previous tournaments. Wales or Scotland are going to go in full inferiority complex as usually so they are going to well up for trying to stick it to the English and its always going to a close tight game.

Ukraine I can imagine if they are still in conflict with Russia is going to be a terrible team to have to play.

urr hello ...

"The United States defeated England 1–0 on 29 June 1950, in a group match of the 1950 FIFA World Cup"

"in the short-lived US Cup tournament in 1993. The USA logged a 2-0 win over England, thanks to goals from Thomas Dooley and Alexi Lalas"

That's my point.  The question was whether England should stoop to considering the US a rival.

Hi All

If anybody is thinking of coming over for the world cup or knows someone who is and they are looking for accommodation. I have a room available in Qatar in a 3 bedroom villa in a compound (compound also home to former LCFC player) . Number of people (within limits) and price negotiable. Use of all the amenities (kids playground (if that's your thing), squash count, tennis court, gym (fairly shit) and swimming pool) + airport pick up/drop of  included. Close to all the stadiums (well everywhere in Qatar is close to the stadiums TBH) big shopping centers (everywhere) sea (ditto).

contact [email protected] put "Qatar 22 Accommodation" in the title of the email to start the ball rolling so to speak.

Cheers

Stephen

Huge game for Scotland tonight and I'm buzzing for it. Already saw groups of people making their way to Glasgow for it and I only live an hour away.

Hampden is going to be wild tonight.

Is it a one off game tonight with the winner qualifying?

One off game. Winner plays Wales away on Sunday to qualify for WC.

Genuinely no idea who I'd rather win to be honest. It's probably better for us to play Scotland, we typically come out on top against them more often than not and Ukraine will be severely unpredictable - they could turn up intensely motivated.

If we were away, I'd rather be going to a neutral venue to play a Ukraine with limited support than be turning up to Hampden but Scotland are notoriously shite outside Scotland in basically every sport so. lol

To be honest, I'm far more confident about tonight than I am the prospect of going to Wales. I think you're pretty spot on in that if the game on Sunday was at Hampden (if we get there) then I would make us favourites.

I also think you're spot on about what to expect from Ukraine. They could should up and be pretty disinterested or they can show up chomping at the bit.

Also, it'll be fvcking poetry if a Rambo penalty wins it for us against Scotland.

No word of a lie, that's all I've been thinking about since that miss.

Scotland gave England a good game and England thrashed Ukraine, I'm sure the scots hope that Ukraine side shows up at Hampden, if they do they'll only be one winner.

That's not how scotlad operate though. Scotland match the level of their opponents so if they are playing the world champions... they will play brilliantly and only JUST lose. If they are playing a pub team, they will play at pub league level and only JUST win.

Think I'd take Wales going through, don't want the scotch enjoying a world cup anytime soon. Least Welsh give it a bit of a go

They give it a bit of a go because their best players are their attacking players. Our best players are our defensive ones.

No. Wales already won their semi final playoff. This one tonight is Nations league.

Bit of a trial by fire really. Get promoted to the top table of the Nations League then immediately have to play away in our first game a few days before the biggest game Wales has played in years.

We've pretty much sacked it off, most of the key players rested. Did alright to go ahead tbf.

Thanks

I was seriously confused as I thought Wales had played their Semi, at the time Ukraine v Scotland was postponed

Then as I saw this was NL I’d convinced myself the Jocks was the final tonight
