Both Norwich and Newcastle apparently interested in Hamza

https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/exclusive-norwich-city-may-rival-newcastle-united-for-leicester-midfielder-as-oliver-skipp-decision-stalls/

Norwich City have made a defensive midfielder a priority this summer and may rival Newcastle United for the service of Hamza Choudhury, a source has exclusively revealed to Football League World.

Daniel Farke’s side have stormed to promotion in the Championship this season and are on the cusp of sealing the title in the coming fixtures.

Planning, then, has already turned to the summer transfer window and recruiting players for the Premier League.

A source has revealed to Football League World that Choudhury is a player that Norwich will consider as they look to strengthen, although they will face interest for the Leicester City fringe player from Newcastle.

Choudhury has featured only nine times in the Premier League this season for the high-flying Foxes, but he’s got 46 top-flight appearances under his belt for Leicester and has room to develop at just 23.

Norwich’s decision to move for a midfielder is also hinged on the future of Oliver Skipp.

Is it entirely safe for Hamza to venture anywhere remotely near the Toon after that tackle on Matt Ritche?

Fair ****ing play to the kid for probably carving out a Premier League career. I'm still convinced he's lower championship at very best.

Schlupp manages to carve out a Premier League career and he's crap. Loads of average to rubbish players in the bottom half at Newcastle, Palace, Burnley etc.

That’s a bit harsh on Jeff to be fair. He was shit for us but Hodgson has played him all over the pitch for Palace and he has done a job. He’s better than Hamza.

After the game against Palace the other night I think Hamza would probably fit right in there, some proper dirty tackles flying in from them

That style would suit his game. Whereas we use ability on the ball in conjunction with being able to read the game, Palace for instance use significantly more physical presence and athletic ability.

Hamza is an athlete and I've no doubt Roy could turn him into a decent player for them.

I'm not surprised several PL teams are after him. When Puel played him against Liverpool & Man City a few years back he looked insane, still remember that covering tackle he made, when he ran pretty much the full length of the field. Since then he's not had any game time and it shows. Looks a shadow of that player.

Hamza is at the moment one of our local academy players for European qualification .Maximum squad size is 25 of which eight places reserved for academy players. If he leaves, currently only Thomas and Barnes qualify as academy players. If Thomas is loaned we will be left with one. That would mean our squad would be reduced to 18.That won't do so we would need to include KDH and a couple of others to bring it up to 21 . So Knight and Muskwe may come into the reckoning. If they do then they will not be going on loan. So selling an experienced academy player can raise problems. We can go in with a reduced squad but if we expect to qualify for the knock out stage that might be risky.

It is 4 club trained players (at Leicester) and 4 club trained players (at any other club in England)

4 players trained at any other club in England isn't an issue as we have Kasper, Ward, JJ, Evans, Maddison, Albrighton, Vardy

We can basically have a squad of 21 players with 4 spaces left for our home grown players - next season probably Barnes and KDH up to 23, Thomas would be able to be on the B List

17 foreign players at most is the easiest way to look at it

Would Sowah count? Classed as a Leicester player since 2018?

I know he's not stayed at Leicester really in that time but technically a Leicester since he was 18?

Not actually too sure with Sowah

As you say he is technically our player but as he has actually spent the last 3 years playing in Belgium I think he is actually more likely to he classed as club trained with Leuven than he is with us!

I really think there's a player in Hamza but his backwards progression has coincided very closely with Rodgers coming in.  He's the only player I can think of that hasn't progressed under Rodgers and it's interesting to speculate as to why.

Players like Hamza pick up a lot of yellow cards in our over protective premier league. That worries Rodgers and I don't blame him. Its a pity because Hamza  has a lot of good things about his game.

He also manages to leave huge gaps in midfield whenever he plays for some reason, I don’t know why! But it always happened when he plays in place of Ndidi.

I have always thought of him as a box to box player , he lacks the game reading skills of a top class DM.

Get rid. Lets move on. I think he has an attitude as wants to play every week. Just not good enough to do that here.

I agree that he's not good enough and should be moved on but if wanting to play every single week is classed as an "attitude" then practically every player in our dressing room (and probably every other dressing room in the league) has an attitude. Not only do I feel that most of our players want to play every minute but I feel they SHOULD want to. I don't want a player at our club who is happy to sit on the bench.

Agreed. He’s not a young kid anymore and could probably forge a decent lower half prem career if he decided to leave. I’d expect him to want to go play first team football. I’m sure he could go play for someone fairly local too, Villa Baggies Wolves etc might have him.

I was referring more to his lack of respect in the COVID scandal as the attitude. Absolutely want everyone to want to play. Think his frustration may have brought that about.

Hamza could do a very good job with Forest. I was very pleased to see Leeds back in the premiership and Forest are another sleeping giant I would like to get back in there. He is ideally suited to a championship midfield role , hard as nails and will run all day. With plenty of pitch time he might learn a bit of refinement as well.

I get the "get rid" comment.   But where does the wants to play every week attitude come from.  Maybe I have missed that, but always thought he was comfortable as a squad player.
