I certainly would’ve took 5th in the premier league and an fa cup at the start of the season so big hats off to the lads, unlucky today obviously wasn’t meant to be.

I wish people would allow a few minutes at least for people to be frustrated before the passive-aggressive rationality has to kick in.

Supporting a football club is an emotional experience, everybody will come to appreciate the achievements of this season in due course. Today it’s more than reasonable to be frustrated and not

see the bigger picture.

Nothing against you @Aus Fox. Just seen so much of this recently and it’s not a reasonable expectation of a set of football fans 2 minutes after a really disappointing defeat.

Different strokes for different folks

It’s actually perfectly reasonable expectation of a fair chunk of people that they’ll try to make the best of a given situation. Especially one that they’re emotionally invested in but have no control over.

Another chunk of people go the opposite way - they’re the ones who as soon as points are dropped with half a dozen games left are all ‘rignt, that’s it, the season’s gone, we’ve bottled it, no way back from here.’ That’s their way of managing the situation they care passionately about but have no control over.

We all have to find our way of dealing with that passion without agency situation, otherwise we’d go mad.

Like I say - different strokes for different folks.

overall it's a great season but to have something even greater pretty much handed to us on a plate today and completely blow it at the end is hard to take

We was 2nd in 1928, don’t disrespect players from that year

Exactly, some of those players might be reading this thread.

Believe it or not, the rational people on here are emotional too. We're all sick and down and then we come on here and read a load of knee jerk bollox, that doesn't improve our mood.

When you see lol and read the same buzz words from the usual suspects, it winds us up too.

Cannot hide my disappointment, considering our position. But today didn’t lose it for us. Fulham at home, Newcastle at home, Leeds at home... these games are the difference.

That being said, 5th place and an FA cup. Incredible season!

Last season we finished 5th after being in the top 4 for the most of the season.

This season we won the FA Cup, had a European campaign, had numerous injuries, and we finished 5th after being in the top 4 for the most of the season.

I think thats decent progress.

Totally agree. The passionless virtue signalling on here has become unbearable.

a) I haven’t seen any ‘passionless virtue signalling (if such a thing exists, which I rather doubt);

b) No, what’s unbearable is the all-too-frequent complete intolerance of other fans reacting differently to something.

Successful but disappointing. Could and probably should have been better

Well it should be top 4... I can’t believe we haven’t took the ticket... it is just crazy

But STILL you have to question the subs BR made. I think it cost us.

Personally will be a tough few days to get over this. Once that's out the way will be able to look back at what a great season it's been, Deactivating facebook, youtube  for a while and finding something else to think about will help. Still got the Black Adder and Red Dwarf Box Set to work my way through as never got round to it during the lockdown!

**** off, everybody is hurt. Nobody would make anyone feel bad about feeling disappointed. But if you're channeling that into anger at the manager or players who've delivered the FA Cup and a 5th place finish in spite of a string of injuries to crucial players in key moments then you're being an absolute twat and need to be told that.

I haven't read enough to see who, if anyone is doing that, but I've seen enough to know what he's talking about.

I'm angry with the shocking game management today, but ultimately know we were ridiculously unlucky to lose Fofana and that's what cost us. I'd say the poor decisions thereafter finished us off for sure though.

I'm gutted it fell apart right at the death like that, but we've had hypothetical scenarios on here way back of "Would you rather an FA Cup or a 4th Place" and I was always on the "win the cup" side of the equation so I'm sure I'll get over it sharpish.

You’re absolutely right of course…

I think I need a day or two off to sit back and then I’ll come round to appreciating it all…

I loved last weekend…. I feel a little glum right now though…

I suggest people to have a media blackout in the next few days or 7 days. We will get slaughtered by radio presenters and pundits and the general football public, and called names such as chokers and bottlers and failures.  It will wind you up so take a week off, then come back. We were given a lifeline but still there it away. Enjoy the summer and we go again next season.

Spent the last few weeks slagging off the 'big 6' and now we're narked we haven't been invited to their party. We've had a great season.

That is true. I'm a big BR fan but you are right, Fofana should have been replaced for a centre back or we should have gone to a 4-4-2. Playing Ndidi at CB means we lose Ndidi in CM. It's something I hope BR realises if he wants to be a better manager.

I think in terms of overall progress as a club, on balance we are progressing as a club.

I’d have taken winning the FA cup over CL qualification all day long but there’s no getting away from it that we were in the position where we could reasonably have had both but couldn’t get it done

It’s not failing to make the top 4 that hurts but how we have thrown it away two seasons in a row

Time to let some steam off and then reflect on the reality of our progress and achievements and then look forward to getting behind the team at the KP next season

Just because we don’t cry like babies and call all the players and manager bottlers doesn’t mean we don’t have passion and want us to win.

It means we are realistic and enjoying the richest, most successful ever period in our history and respect those achievements.

I must have opened up a can of worms here as I don't really know what you're on about. Just that there are plenty of people on here who are at pains to show how level headed and above the people that get angry at performances (rather than results) they are. 🤷‍♂️

We wouldn't have won the CL, maybe if we're lucky we'd have got to the quarter finals, winning our first FA cup is a much bigger deal and will be remembered by us for decades to come.

Yes absolutely brilliant to win the fa cup. But I’m still pissed off to spend the majority of 2 seasons in the top 4 and miss out both times.
I know I’ll be crucified on here but that’s how I feel.

I keep thinking about Kante leaving us after winning the title for Chelsea who'd largely under performed that season, and reading the reason was he was "sold by Conte's vision for where Chelsea was heading."

I hope we keep the core of this squad and Rodgers can persuade any transfer targets we are after that we're on the cusp of disrupting the so called "estabished elite".

One more good transfer window could really help us continue to compete for a Champions League place, season after season.

The manner of dropping out the top 4 at the 11th hour again is going to hurt for a while, but it has to give us hope we'll be up here again next season too.

Let's just win the EL next season - and qualify for the Champions League that way, so even if we make it 3 seasons in a row of nearly top 4 we'll qualify a different way!

I have a cunning plan, sir...
