Luana Zajmi

Women's Super League side Leicester City have signed Slovenian youth international Luana Zajmi.

The 19-year-old midfielder was part of the ZNK Pomurje side that won the Zenska Liga last season.

Visa delays over the summer led to a hold up in her putting pen to paper.

"It's just an incredible feeling signing for Leicester City. It's always been a dream of mine to play abroad. To sign my first professional contract is just incredible," Zajmi said.

"Women's football, especially in England, is developing really fast and I think I'll have a great chance to improve myself here."

BBC Sport understands she is eligible to play on Sunday in the Foxes' league fixture at West Ham United.

Leicester are ninth in the WSL after starting the season with two defeats.

...not too sure when the "windows" are, but we need to go out and pick up Sissoko as soon as possible!!!

We are far too slow in defence, lack physicality and one ball over the top or down the sides and we are beaten. Lack of pace all over and although just pace will not sort our problems but it will give us a chance as at the moment we are a yard or so slower than the other teams.

Did anybody go today? Any idea of the attendance? I'm sure the men playing at a similar time didn't help. Let's hope we can get a point soon before the heads really go down.

Do they have any good defenders? Trade vestey for someone????

The attendance was 2157.

I took my granndaughter as I had committed to going before realising the Palace game was live on Sky.

We showed more fight and commitment than the Man Utd home game which is the only other one I have watched.

We are still very much second best, and midfield were outplayed and we are defensively vulnerable - some players such as Brougham were just awful and not up to standard.

It's going to take a lot of work to get us up to standard, but at present they seem up for the fight, certainly in the 2nd half, we were unlucky perhaps not to score.

Leicester City Women's squad: Squad profile
Leicester City have made recruited significantly in an attempt to elevate their Championship squad to one fit to compete in the Women's Super League. Leicester City FC only bought the club in 2020, turning it fully professional immediately, something that was a rarity at the time in the second division. Further investment has seen them move into state of the art training facilities and they will play the majority of their home games at the King Power this season. Emile Heskey is also heavily involved with the women's side as an ambassador.

Leicester have looked to bring in a range of players with WSL experience. Abbie McManus is one of the most notable signings having played for Manchester City and Manchester United, as well as having 17 England caps. She has been joined by Jess Sigsworth in moving from United to Leicester. Sigsworth was a prolific striker for Manchester United in the Women's Championship but has struggled for game time in the WSL. She will be looking to kickstart her career again in the Midlands.

Sigsworth will be partnered in attack by Leicester's stand out play, Natasha Flint. Flint came through the Manchester United youth system and made a handful of appearances for Manchester City before dropping out of the top two divisions of women's football entirely. She will be keen to show that she has the ability to be as dominant in the WSL as she has been in the Women's Championship.

Leicester City Women's squad: Who is Leicester City's best player?
Natasha Flint

Despite making her debut for Manchester City at 17, Natasha Flint was released by the club and ended up dropping down to the third tier of women's football. In the time since, she has gradually climbed the pyramid, scoring buckets of goals in the Women's National League and Championship. Flint will look to finally get the chance to establish herself in the Women's Super League.

Leicester City Women's squad: Who is Leicester City's manager?
Jonathan Morgan

Jonathan Morgan became manager of Leicester back in 2014 and in that time has led them from the fourth division of women's football to the very top. Under Morgan, Leicester have won the FA Women's Midlands Division One and the FA Women's Championship, as well as reaching the last four of the Continental Cup.

This will be Leicester City's first season in the WSL having been promoted after winning the Women's Championship.

had their best performance so far this season yesterday, if they can defend like that for the rest of the season they will be fine against the rest Chelsea's squad depth is insane, they have 5 Ballon D'or nominees

I have not watched much other than the highlights, however, it seems all they do is defend. A couple of hard worked 0-0's won't get them far.

Hopefully they can beat some of the lower teams (feel like they had a tough start).

Our women looked so good when they came up. I guess there is a massive gulf in quality between the lower league and the premier even more so than the mens. Maybe the solution is to get some better players. Not one win yet which is rough going for confidence. Hope we hit a purple patch soon. COYF!

I think they bought in 9 players and got rid of quite a few of those that got them promoted. The problem is there's not enough better players around and as the League moves towards mirroring the PL the best will go to the Rich 4/6 for the money and the wins.

Playing Chelsea women is like playing Pep’s Barca they are so much stronger then pretty much everyone else you are forced into defending.

Our women’s team haven’t defended well at all so far so for that to change was huge for them, against most of the league they won’t have to defend nearly as much

How come Leicester didn't do the linking arms that most other clubs did in support of the NWSL teams?

...apparently the F.A are doing something on a bigger platform of which the will take part!!!

No reason why they could not have done both.

....missed the game, so hard to comment, but go by comments on this board!!!

A 0-0 would have been a great result psychologically and a few more of them would be just what we need.

The start of the season saw us up against teams that have been earmarked to struggle this season so a favourable draw all round. The fact that they all over whelmed us and made us look like a bunch of school girls did not help. I did notice when we are a long way behind in terms of goals we play much better, better ball control and move the ball quicker and more purposeful in competing for the ball.

Hopefully they are no longer awestruck at being in the new league  and can start to believe in themselves.

I will take a few 0-0 for the next few games and push on from there.

7 matches....7 defeats.....#MORGANOUT

Has been a really poor start! A lot of new players, a new system (?). Doesn’t appear to be working. Work to do!!
