That's mad. I don't blame Payet for chucking the bottle back in to the crowd.

 

It hit him with some force, and, whilst no defence for Payet, he's only human and didn't appear to throw it with much malice.

 

Players are there doing their job, they shouldn't have to put up with that.

 

Unfortunately, the headlines will be made because Payet retaliated.

Cengiz Under is probably wondering what he has walked into, was spotted amongst the latter melee. But those minority of Nice fans are an embarrassment to the sport.

 

Whilst the papers will undoubtedly target the (somewhat lack of) professionalism of the players, particularly Payet/Gonzalez/Guendouzi, the fans need to be held to account. And maybe playing the suspended match behind closed doors, plus a substantial fine to Nice should suffice, but won't solve the problem long term.

 

Not the first time Marseille players have been pelted by missiles this season, also happened versus Montpellier. Welcome back football with full stadiums.

You would think Nice will look to ban a number of their ultras although likely won't want to rock the boat with them too much.
