Hes been injured for most of his career hasn't he?

This video was made in the last year, but the vast majority of the goals are from 4 or so years ago, which tells you what you need to know really.

Some stunning goals though.

Oh yeah. He was quality before his injury, hasn’t been the same since. He is massively weaker than Perez off the ball (though most forwards are), but offers a bit more threat on it. Perez arguably better at progressing the ball though. If Perez could actually hit his xG, he would be looking like the better option.

He did his cruciate and was out for 9 months but hasn't come back quite the same as yet. It's one of those 'if we could get him firing again' ones. He's a remarkable talent clearly.

This.

Up to about 2 years ago I'd have never imagined we'd have got this kind of signing.

He's taken a downward turn due to injuries (like Pereira has for us?) but if we were to sign Asensio on some kind of loan deal then it may work out? Would be a win-win for both clubs.

We get an experienced player who is clearly very decent and get him firing again.

Real Madrid get a player back who has regained confidence and they get their value back up on him too.

A half-decent Asensio is much better than Perez...

Cristiano Ronaldo used to speak to very highly of this lad during the latter of his Madrid days. If can get him back into form then would be a very good signing.

It's very rare we sign players from objectively bigger or better sides than us - this is the sort of move Everton or West Ham usually make. There are exceptions - Digne from Barcelona, and for us you've probably got Evans, Cambiasso the standouts who have played for big clubs in their careers. But generally we do better when we are signing players on an upward trajectory.

On loan would be a decent move.

This would be a great loan move, with option to buy tbh. I’d be real happy with this. In reality, this would be a very high profile move, he has  something to prove, and dare I say it, might even bring the best out of Perez.

Positives :

No transfer fee (Loan)

International

Good age

Predominantly a RHS left footer

Hungry with something to prove

Increases profile of club

Might help Perez assimilate

Negatives :

Potentially high wages

Has had a bad injury

No thanks.  As pointed out by moore_94 and @jeffschlupp on the Dennis Praet thread, we don't want any more non-English players, we're almost up to the top level of our foreign registered quota for the 25 man squad.  So, if we go for that right winger, it has to be Madueke.

Genuinely? Perhaps that’s why we’re enquiring?

I genuinely don’t know. Until you mentioned it, I didn’t even know he was at the olympics! 😂

Just had a look. Seems he’s doing ok. Got some criticism in the Spanish press for staying too far wide, apparently. They want him to move more centrally, more often.

At least he’s fit and getting a good pre-season.

I reckon he’d be a good addition, on loan. Just my humble opinion

I really wouldn’t concern yourself with this too much. The club are all over this and it tends to work it’s self out. For example (without reading the post) if we were to sell or not register Ghezzal, Jakupovic, Mendy(hope not) Amartey, Praet (hope not) etc. Lots of twists and turns possible
