foxgas Posted 25 August 2021 Posted 25 August 2021 I hope the PA system inside and outside the ground is improved, sound quality is terrible at the moment.

From the Q&A webinar they did today, it looks like they are sorting the acoustics out for other uses of the stadium so we may see something!

It's not anywhere near as bad as other clubs our size. Everton's was poor when I was there and The Olympic 'dildo brothers' stadium was incredibly bad considering its newness. Ours isn't the best but it isn't terrible.
Spudulike Posted 26 August 2021 Posted 26 August 2021 Bad news about the ownership of the EON building and land. The question was raised twice but the presenter didn't have much to say about it as its outside of the scope of the development other than confirming the business do not own it (although he did once say 'currently'). That is a prime, prominent position as an entrance to the venue and must be highly sought after and valued. Odd that nothing has been mentioned since it came up for sale a few months back. Will be interesting to find out who does own it and what plans they have for it.
Popular Post Freeman's Wharfer Posted 26 August 2021 Popular Post Posted 26 August 2021 A few key takeaways for me were: It sounds like the club sat on the plans for a couple of years. They talked about doing research in 2019 to determine the 40,000 capacity (which included things like the number of members we had and what they thought would result in a “packed stadium every week”) and Whelan said they’d decided after waiting a couple of years that now was the right time. She talked about running LCFC as a business and now being a time they felt it was a risk free move. They said that the extra 8,000 tickets would likely be general admission tickets. I don’t expect we’ll see many season tickets in that area: my impression was that it will likely be higher-cost individual matchday tickets that will likely be aimed at tourists and day-trippers. The further expansion potential was a big one. Sounds like there is nothing pre-agreed like a phase two and phase three but the architect was saying that there is potential to build behind the other stands and incorporate into the existing structure as they are doing with the East Stand. He cited Fulham’s expansion over the river Thames as an example that they have the ability to do that even in the most challenging positions and said there’s enough space behind each of the other stands if needed. At no point did they ever consider a complete demolition and re-build. Whelan talked about how when they first took over the club they used to hear a lot about Filbert Street and the memories there but that now King Power Stadium had so many great memories that they wouldn’t want to lose that. 14 8
King of Gipsy Lane Posted 26 August 2021 Posted 26 August 2021 Sounds like it’s going to be a hospitality/tourist attraction stand ! 8000 mostly high rollers and day trippers, it will be like a Scottish funeral without whiskey on a damp wet November 🤦♂️

rachhere Posted 26 August 2021 Posted 26 August 2021 I am sure there will be a good chunk of hospitality seating, but Susan Whelan did say that the 8000 figure was informed by consultation with fans and the number of members we have. I am sure there will be regular priced seats as well. Incidentally she also said (not sure if this was mentioned earlier) that the success of the expansion isn’t reliant on increasing ticket prices elsewhere in the ground

Fox in the North Posted 28 August 2021 Posted 28 August 2021 Man City unveiled statues of Vincent Kompany and David Silva. In addition to Khun Vichai I really hope we add more statues of heroes past (or current even!!) to add a bit of extra to the fanzone area.

I’ve never been convinced by football statues; they tend to look a bit naff. There may be a case very occasionally for an absolutely legendary figure from a club’s history. But certainly no statues of anyone who’s still alive. 1
fox_up_north Posted 28 August 2021 Posted 28 August 2021 Statues are ok but I prefer murals. Maybe a big one of Vardy's goal v Liverpool, Big Wes lifting the cups and, of course, Khun Vichai 1

Or the Coatsworth screamer. There should be a nod to when we were piss poor surely! Or one for every ‘era’ however that is defined - like Steve Howard header v Leeds as marking the ‘comeback’.

I think they might relocate the carpark under another outline app once the e.on land parcel has been dealt with and move it their. It gives great scope to re develop the South stand. Otherwise it's the North stand and to re configure the main road around it.
