Yes, there was a woman Councillor who appeared to make it her personal mission to block bede Island. She lobbied local residents to register protest against something the majority were ambivalent to.

Maggie Bodell-Stagg. Absolute battleaxe.

I don't remember if she objected to the Freeman's Wharf site being used for the stadium. In fact I don't think many did in the end. Hopefully no one will object this time.

I would have thought that in planning this the club would have consulted with the council. Most big developers do this when building big housing estates. They go through a pre app design stage with the local council in order to improve the chances of the planning application being approved.

I would be surprised if they have not done this prior to announcing the plans.

I'm sure  they have and will have taken into that into account and I doubt the council will have any serious objections. It's not usually them that are the problem it's the locals and how strong they might feel and whether they have a strong leader like they did with the Bede Island project.

I can't really see that though.

Who are the locals? I think the nearest residential houses must be those on Burnmoore Street and around the cricket club? Nearest Aylestone Road houses a bit further away?

That's why I said.......

Having said that the fans park in quite a wide spread area so they'll always be plenty of individuals complaining not only about the increased 1/2 a week footy crowd but the extra footfall and traffic from the other facilities.

Increased traffic and associated noise and pollution from that will always result in plenty of local objections but again as I said I can't see it being an organised threat.

As far as I can tell People seem to be supportive of the plans locally to the King Power stadium especially because they include an arena, seem people will accept additional possible inconveniences if it means they can go to events here instead of Nottingham or Birmingham

I think as well KP have a lot of goodwill in the community from various charity work and hospital donations. As well as the numerous jobs the build should create

I hope the Council insist on better public transport links for increased ground capacity. It seems wrong that park and rides can't be used for night or Sunday games. I am sure that private coach firms would take it up for prepaid customers,no brainer really.

One thing I can never get my head around.

For the rugby World Cup games at the KP, Birstall for certain did a park n ride to the ground, as double deckers were lining up on a Sunday, yet for Premier league games with sell outs they don’t offer such a thing only into the city on the normal route, but as you say not on Sunday or night games.

If they put it on for match days and dropped off anywhere in the vicinity rather than city centre I’m sure enough would use it to make it worth while.

Very excited about the plans.

The only concerns and things I hope the club have considered is providing affordable (If not free) parking whilst being considerate of travel/traffic issue - mainly parking though, traffic issues are to be expected and cannot really be helped/out of the clubs hands and more of a council or highways issue.

Sometimes I train it into the city (The dream would be a station at or nearer the stadium but I can't see how that would work unfortunately) but mainly drive or get lifts and parking has been an issue for many years.

No chance of free or affordable parking at the ground and the cynic in me says in that new car park they’ll be will be mainly for corporate hospitality or if you wish to pay a high price to park there like a lot do now, which in itself is odd as they must get thrown out of their seats 10 minutes before the final whistle with the amount of cars queueing, engines running by the time I’ve exited the kop.

You’d think they’d all get their heads together, club, clowncil, bus and train operators to try and come up with a match day travel plan to make it easier to get in without driving.

More so with another 8k going.

Car park should have been across the road and bigger, can't understand why with this super development they'd want cars streaming through it. I suspect it might even be for residents and hotel guests.
