What is with the Plymouth Argyle is it a match program? That's because it is. When we nearly went bust we was going to ground share and they were potential plans. You actually had tigers fans wanting us to go bust so they could have our ground completely... That's why there's abit of a rift between the clubs. Oh and Tigers wanted green, white and red seats installed - total non starter. 1

The ground share proposals were around 2004, the Levein era so later than our administration period when we came within a gnats bollock of going out of business. Historically, its been the perception that Tigers fans look down their stuck up noses at City fans. Even stories of them cheering an announcement that City were losing on the days when both stadiums were hosting matches. I don't know how true that is as I've never stepped foot in Welford Road stadium. It was always said that Tigers drew their posh support from the county whereas the City fans were the rough, uncouth oiks from, err, the city. 1

Nor should it. Anybody with a modicum of foresight would've done due diligence before making a major residential investment. Some people like to moan. I notice people like to be judgemental. Put yourself in the person's predicament, property availability is low in the City, may not be a lot of choice, might be financial constraints, and you "never" know what its like to live somewhere until you live there. Next I would read the complaint, it isnt some random moan, there is very good points made on it, and the club should be respectful to those in the surrounding areas. The club can do a sound check at 8am, yet cant do it 2 hours later due to some weird issue where they can get an engineer in at 8am but not 10am? There is random uses of the sound system at odd hours, which the club pretends is not happening. Ironically your moaning about someone putting in a complaint. Where I do agree with you is the points made have little relevance to the planning application and probably wont have any effect, I expect it was done out of desperation to get someone's attention as all other avenues had failed.

Have been arranging mortgages for 30yrs and a standard part of the process is local searches and any disputes etc. Either way, what kind of person buys a property nearby and doesn’t realise there’s a football stadium nearby and all that goes with it? Where does it say they brought the property?

But it was at a time when the club didnt own the ground. There is this perception we got a new ground for free. But Teachers lent the club (old company) the money and they took ownership of the ground when we went bust. They were desperate to sell to anyone, they just wanted their money back. We were so close to ending up like Coventry. Mandric bought the ground back. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2006/nov/01/newsstory.leicesterci 1

Taken into account all the rent we paid, we have paid a lot more than the original purchase price of the stadium. 3

When I was kid my parents would occasionally take us go and watch the tigers home, sometimes away, if the City where away or not playing. Went twickenham a number of times to watch them, they’d brag about their huge support there but would conveniently forget that it was City fans that swelled their numbers. Anyway it was after one match too many when they cheered after City had lost away somewhere when my dad said he’s had enough of it, that we weren’t going anymore, we’ve never set foot in welford rd since. Wasn’t much of a loss to us as we were always City fans and the tigers was more just something to do on a Saturday afternoon. They also drew support from notts and Northampton but their gates were. Though during the time of the suggested merger I can vaguely remember some tigers fans suggesting they buy the stadium and kick us out. 2

An engineer doesn’t just appear out of thin air at a click of the fingers, a tannoy is a requirement for a valid safety certificate, a valid safety certificate is a requirement for a match to happen hence the earlier the test the better We only have the word of the complainant that this issue is happening and with how it’s being described I'm surprised this is the first we are hearing of it (no pun intended)

He bought a majority holding in the club from the consortium that included Linekar & Heskey and the ground from the bank that owned it. "Milan Mandaric has confirmed this morning that he has made a bid to buy Championship side Leicester City. The announcement comes less than two months after he relinquished his role as non-executive chairman of Portsmouth. The offer is expected to be in the region of £25m, with £10m going directly into the club, and the remaining £15m enough to buy the ground freehold from the current owners, American banking firm Teachers." https://www.theguardian.com/football/2006/nov/01/newsstory.leicestercity

Popular Post Webbo Posted 5 September 2021 Popular Post Posted 5 September 2021 Some City fans are happy when the Tigers lose, some Tigers fans are happy when we lose. For most of us from the area, we're happy when both teams do well. Is it really worth caring about? 5

Fox1970 Posted 5 September 2021 Posted 5 September 2021 About the Tigers vs LCFC business, the condescending attitude of the Tigers was when they were undisputaby the best RU club in the counrtry and LCFC were struggling, a mediocre successive seris of seasonal performances in a highly competitive sporting environment, much more so than the relatively genteel rugby world. Hence the Tigers had a smug superior pespective - made worse by the simple binary of football fan = thick thug, rugby fan = top hole middle class chappie in a barber and carrying a Thermos and padded seat. 1

Yep remember going to a Tigers game with my Dad when City were away in the 90s. I was shocked at the large cheer when it was read out that we were losing Been asked to go in the Tigers corporate area for a match in November. The thought of it makes me feel sick.

Yup...I can remember the half time jeers on the ultra rare occasions I went Tigers. Though, I interpreted it differently. It was less malice and.more schadenfreude. the vast majority of tigers fans had brothers/mates/colleagues who were city fans and the jeers were a kinda ironic 'oh dear, so and so is gonna have the hump tonight' type.laughing groan
