BT commentary team fawning over Man City and moralising about how "disgraceful" Atletico were is just nauseating. Even if Foden was kicked, he clearly deliberately rolled half a dozen times so he could get back on the pitch and waste time. That's obviously going to wind everyone up and I am not surprised Savic tried to roll him back off, wrong though that may be. They keep saying Savic's "disgraceful behaviour" instigated it but that is obviously not true, we just saw with our own eyes what happened, it was Foden's shithousery that started it.

Come on. You may not like Man City, but Atletico are, were and will always be the masters of shithousery, they can hardly complain wen it comes back at them

Yeah, Atletico do what it takes to win which is fair enough but Simeone has always been a poor loser and that clearly manifested itself in the team yesterday. Man City are hardly paragons of virtue either but I don't mind them being the instrument demonstrating the above poor sportsmanship.

Man city definitely adopted some of the 'dark arts' yesterday.  English commentary couldn't seem to get over its biases to realise Man city where doing this.  BT Darren Fletcher couldn't even tell why Savic was annoyed not that it excuses Savic but it was clearly because Foden made a point of rolling onto the pitch.

Think what riled Athletico up so much was all this talk of them being anti football and dark arts and then Man city doing exactly that.  The snobbery that came out after the first leg was a bit ott tbf.

Poor ref. Actually an abysmal ref. He failed to get hold of the game from the off and the game was worse for it. Foden was earmarked for 'the treatment' - in any normal match that kind of overt bullying would not be tolerated. Felipe warranted a red for following through on him. It was deliberate

There's shithousery and there's thuggery and the ref. allowed it to descend into thuggery. Savic and Felipe must have been chuckling to themselves after the first bad tackle went unpunished.

Much as I admire Simeone's no-holds-barred defensive strategies, the officials need to keep a tight control of the excesses such tactics provoke.

In the final outcome it's usually the better footballing team who triumph over the one electing to win by fouler means.

Yep agreed, so I don't know why the BT commentary team can't just say that. There wasn't a single remark about Foden's behaviour, instead Darren Fletcher simply went from "Foden has been caught" to "Savic is out of control" and "disgraceful behaviour", without filling in the gaps with what all of us could see just happened. Foden was off the pitch when Filipe had that little swipe at him after the (perfectly decent) challenge, and then he rolled over 6 times to get back onto the pitch. This was clearly deliberate and done with the intention of wasting time and winding up the Atletico players. It's one thing to say that Foden is giving as good as he gets from Atletico, that's fair enough, but all we heard from the BT team was that Foden was "caught" and then for no reason whatsoever was mercilessly set upon by Savic and his Atletico co-bullies.

Some of the commentrary during and after this game is mental. Pundits moralising like they wouldn't have done the same 20 years ago. Broadcasters pearl clutching like the drama and the stakes isn't what everyone is tuning in to see. Knockout football is brilliant and handbags and shithousery is an entertaining part of it. Seen some grown men this morning saying that Atleti players should be taken in by the police for pulling Grealish's hair. It's a wonder how some of these people leave their house in the morning without breaking down in floods of tears.

Good point .

I doubt Man City would be too happy if someone did it against them !

Trust me, it’s not easy.

So much space for Man City to use, barely being closed down.

They're just not afraid to send the ball into the box. We get into these kind of positions and our wingers are always backpassing.
