Not the ground though, more of regenerating surrounding areas.

I’d suggest we could do with this more urgently than an expansion. Could be a good way to boost revenue if done correctly. Multi use venue/pre and post match fan zone (I know we’re trialling the fan zone this weekend).

If it's going to be an age before anything starts they should convert the old electrical repair building next to the East Stand into a Beer/Food hall.

Probably have completed the expansion by the time they get planning consent for that

I think the longer this goes on I'm more inclined to think the club need to revisit their plans and rotate the pitch 90 degrees and build a completely new stadium on the existing and E-On sites.

The more I see of our stand redevelopment versus what other clubs are doing the more I feel we're behind the curve with this project.

Would much rather us commit to something that a) has a wow factor, b) is considered to be one of the best in the country, c) is designed to maximise accoustics, and d) can be scaled up for further development in future years.

The current project just feels like a half arsed attempt that is modelled on outdated designs, and doesn't tie in with the rest of the stadium.

It would be nice but I can’t see it happening

Wed need near on a billion pounds if not more to do something like this.

I don't think the expansion is that bad especially with the expansion of concourses and future proofing it for further devolpment in the future.

Drive is gone now, KP dont own the club anymore either, so how does this all work when the plans include KP hotels?

I be surprised if the expansion goes ahead, I think we more likely to be sold tbh.

Do you think it will happen though? Silence is deafening

We have 5 years from when the section 106 was approved (so the end of last year) for work to COMMENCE for the approval not to run out

What's the gut feeling? Any snippets that might give a clue of the momentum, or lack of :dunno:

All that effort and expense to get to this point but at least it must make the club's assets more attractive to any future investor.

Yeah, the expansion will happen.

But to suggest we build a new stadium 😂 it's not happening. Ever.

Stay up this year, and the expansion happens.

Safe standing first and then a new upper tier in the East Stand as well as improved concourses. It could be a game changer if done right as our stadium looks dated and tired when compared to clubs in a similar position.

I'd be surprised if it happens.  If we go down definately not.  If we manage to stay up for the next 4 seasons then I reckon it's a 50/50 bet whether they go through with it.

Don't disagree (though based on current ownership alone. I do think that'd change if the owners did).

However, my understanding is that the theoretical max capacity of the stadium after full redevelopment is expected to be around 48k and the potential costs associated with redevelopment of the West Stand to realise that capacity would be astronomical due to the structure and position of the stand.

Marinakis at Forest is now talking about 50k, Newcastle are contemplating expansion/new ground, Villa are expanding, West Ham already above 60k, Wolves looking to expand beyond 50k, and Leeds 53k. All teams around us who will leave us behind over the next 10 years if we're not ambitious and push the boat out.

Yes, development isnt cheap, but it only ever gets more expensive. I'd imagine development costs on what's been proposed is now somewhere between £200/250m alone. You're probably looking at another £500m+ to get to 48k by the time further plans are approved and spades are in the ground, so I don't think £1bn for a new stadium that would surpass anything currently planned is unreasonable.

I agree that I do not foresee the club revisiting this proposal, but that doesn't mean that they shouldn't given the evoluting nature of both the sport and associated infrastructure.

With reference to the comment that the ground expansion plans now ĺook outdated is because they are.

I too agree with the quote above, that this expansion ship sailed long ago and with it any returning tide.

Anybody know what the long term forty day snd night weather forecast is?

I think they've been put off by the amount of empty seats this season.

Which is ironically entirely their own doing, with the matchday prices as they are and multiple barriers they choose to put in the way of new fans.

Agreed. Sooner the fvck off the better.since Vichai's passing they've become what I expected at the start. But as long as they give out the odd free beer and a doughnut some will love them.

Absolutely. I know lots of people who wanted to get to games after our title success and the subsequent years. They couldn't and now, either most of the youngsters have lost interest or it's just too expensive. The lack of foresight at the club is staggering

Agree wholeheartedly.  You would imagine prices will go up to help fund any new extension or at least as an attempt to justify increased prices.  But if you cant sell out 32,000 in the prem currently, what use are thousands more seats?

Yeah. We simply don't have enough fans to fill 37/38k home seats at the prices they charge, who will all use digital tickets etc.

(Another) massive opportunity missed as we were there before covid.

Yep can definitely see us getting left behind by a number of clubs expansion wise.Top and the board have simply dithered and just made it harder and more expensive to get tickets.Should have been completed during the nine seasons in the prem.Wont be surprised if it doesn’t happen.
