Hopefully have not made up the whole thing in my mind, but am sure pre-2015 players used to give regular interviews with Radio Leicester. Then Stringer irritated them about NFP, and they boycotted them. All for them back then; but things have moved on. Only Schmeichel & Vardy still here who were proper Pearson players. We have won a league, been in both major European competitions, and won the FA cup; we are so massively different to the club we were at the end of 2014.

It is a bit out of order the club think it is still appropriate for players not to speak to local radio. I think there is a special place for local media and club should engage with them. Feels way more like players are speaking to Leicester fans going through the local radio & press, than it does when they give national interviews. Would like the players to speak to Radio Leicester again. Also staff at local radio are more in tune with fans and more likely to ask questions we want to know.

Similarly I know the Merc is complete rubbish atm; but there seems to be no interaction between players and the Merc (Blackwell is pretty good as well, ignore rest of paper)

Wondering if anyone shares my thoughts, or if I have gone completely rogue and nostalgic about local media. Also if anyone knows if there has been any attempt for Radio Leicester to speak to players again

Did you ever read a Bill Anderson column?

There have been a couple this season. Stringer did one with Vestegard on his debut and Owynn did one with Dewsbury-Hall at Norwich. Not that I've been listening to post-match lately. Frankly more likely to listen after we win.

Completely agree with the OP. Talk about the relative merit of journalists all you want, but on the club's behalf it's sheer arrogance to think engaging with local media is beneath it. There'll come a time again when that won't be the case...

Personally I think it feels as though they have extended the gap between themselves and local press. As if it’s almost above them. For some folk (like my dad), it’s their only official line.

Journalists like Jordan Blackwell are not the problem. The club had no issue giving Rob Tanner or James Sharpe a bit of access. Since covid and seagrave, it’s disappeared

I swear the bloke who works for LCTV is a robot that gets wheeled out of a cupboard to do interviews and then but back in to charge.

Brendan could go on a 50 game losing streak and he'd still ask the same mundane, pointless and safe questions.

I’m sure he is!

I mean, there’s nothing impartial about a Leicester City employee. They are there to represent Their company above all else and be a commentator secondary.

Probably because they see it as the corridor of uncertainty

On top of their previous issues, I can’t imagine the players were thrilled when Stringer was publicly looking for a scoop after Rodgers left Chilwell and Choudhury out of the the squad for a game.

Shouldn't act like dicks then

Journos should always look for the story.

We can debate about whether or not he’s a journalist or a play-by-play guy who does a little extra on the side. Stringer tried to act like it was some big scandal and it was pretty odd how he kept going on about it when no actual journalists who would have a much better idea of what happened could give a sh*t.

Anyway, that wasn’t my point at all. If the players are being dicks and he wants to go sniffing around, then fine, he can, but I’m just saying it might be another reason why the players aren’t lined up to do interviews with him.

Wasn't Stringer struggling with his mental health?

I'm pretty sure I heard this the other week on RL.
