Honestly Buttler batting isn't worth his drops :appl:

It never has been. As hard as he works on his keeping (and I do believe he's worked harder since getting the regular Test slot), he'll never be as good as Foakes - who isn't a bad stick himself at all anyway.

We're just not good enough.  Not been able to bat since the South African tour if not before, probably Oz at home last.  We got 2 geriatric but truly great test bowlers but actually don't have a great record in Oz.  Woakes and Robinson are v good but again limited experience out there.

Needed Archer and Wood fit, that was always the plan, you just need a bowler or two out there with express pace re Mitchell Johnson.  We haven't had a decent test wicket taking spinner since Swanny.

Then the TV/press tell us we are instantaneously going to turn it when it gets dark in Adelaide.  Failed to remember the point about good fielding and the ability to catch the ball.  Buttler today, Burns last time out (and loads last summer).

Crux being, when you are living off scraps you have to be at the top of your form, take every catch, get some knocks on the board.  This side hasn't got that in it, stats don't lie, no batter with average over 36 (that's the all rounder Ben Stokes!!) aside from Root, he can't do it on his own.

We have to put scores on the board to pressure them, that means 1 ton an innings and probably 3 50's, that's not in this team facing Cummins (absent), Hazlewood, Starc, Lyon (400 Test wickets) etc..  Plus Silverwood patently hasn't got a clue & we should be rid asap.  Broad should have played last time out & they should have persevered with Leach today just for variety, to break up the 5 right arm medium/medium fast seamers.

If they get 450+ we will probably fold & its gone in 2 and a long tour.

We're great at home in the cool seamers paradise called England, but as India last year and Australia this year prove, we're just not good enough or skilled enough abroad.

Not actually convinced he's a better keeper than Bairstow either.

Think he's kept it because he's seen as the only viable alternative to Root for captain at the minute, which is a dreadful state of affairs in itself.

Heven’t been able to enjoy watching cricket in Adelaide since they knocked down one of the loveliest grounds in the world and replaced it with that horrid thing.

Was thinking just how much it looked like a big football ground seeing it earlier. Still, in that part of the world AFL rules all and I'm guessing that's why they've done it.

I was lucky enough to be at the final Ashes at the ground before they destroyed it.

Even got to see a winning side.

I love watching Labuschagne bat, even if he is destroying us. Blokes completely off his rocker and I'm all for it.

No doubt he's very talented but shouting "NO RUN!!!" even when the ball misses his bat by a foot and sails through to the wicketkeeper is a bit a weird IMHO

He'd get both barrels from me if I were to get him out but it's quite entertaining when i'm sat at home.

Yeah and more acceptable than Smith too.

Had forgotten how it absolutely infuriates me that guy can continuously wander across his stumps like that all the while and never miss the ball. Obviously his technique works ridiculously well for him but it just shouldn’t.

Our fielding would make club teams angry.

The Buttler drop from Labuschagne was criminal.

I've just watched that again on repeat about 10 times on the BBC website. Absolute dolly for a keeper and I'm still gobsmacked he dropped it. Appalling effort really.

How long before these two really kick on, once Carey gets his fifty and Smith gets his hundred? Got to fancy having a go at Burns and Hameed towards the end of play

If I was Australia I would be tempted to declare now and try and skittle us tonight,

It's actually possible.

At this point of the innings its hard to be too critical. They are knackered. Damage was done yesterday.

Odds of England getting over 200 in response must be ridiculous.

Odds on a Burns duck?
