Been quite impressed with the commentary I've heard in this series so far.

I watch a LOT of southern hemisphere rugby, the commentary teams are always local. So if it's in NZ, it's Kiwis, if it's in Aus, it's Aussies, etc. I can't listen when it's the Australians, they are absolutely ridiculous. The most biased, bitter, one-sided commentaries I've ever heard. Way worse than any BT/Sky football commentary. Their fans are clearly influenced by it as well because if you look at social media, they're full of the same ridiculous, biased opinions. Nuts.

I kinda assumed it was an Australian thing to be honest but this lot have been really decent on the cricket. I don't know if they're just cheerful because they're winning but they're pretty complimentary of the English, they're calling it how they see it, they seem pretty fair. Quite enjoying the banter between Hussey and Warner as well tbf.

Did you hear Cook (in the studio) clearly getting frustrated with Shane Warne constantly going on about Leach being left out?

This is going to be a long painful series

Just know Aussies will put on 400+ and we will get knock over for sub 200

Easily get to 600 if they don't do anything stupid

You can't drop two catches like that in this situation.

Bowlers toiling and the few chances just thrown away. Could make a huge difference

Is bowling all of this short, bouncer stuff the cricket equivalent of parking the bus in a low block? Keep the score down and fish for the odd wicket from a catch but not really committing to attacking at all?

I'm not sure I understand the point of almost never bowling at the stumps? Surely at very least you'd mix it up to keep it interesting?

Asking honestly not facetiously btw.

I'm sorry to inform you that you now sound like an England fan.

Most of us have said what you've said there at some point.

When you are already 1-0 down

If you're going to have 5 'fast' bowlers, you need one to be at least 90 plus mph. Stokes can get there but not a frontline bowler. So samey. Big fans of Woakes in England but offers nothing abroad.

Big morning session coming up tomorrow, lose that and I can't see a way back into the test.

Unless we wrap it up very quickly tomorrow I can't see anything but an Australian win, if we're lucky a draw. They've eaten up a lot of time already for the amount of runs scored and wickets lost

If you only have a plan to get batsman out with the new ball at night, you are in for a long day.

And then going to really struggle mentally when it’s you batting the next night 450+ behind on the scoreboard.

Can’t really see how England get back into it to honest.

That's been the problem on the last few Ashes tours. It's even more noticeable now that the triumphant 2010/11 squad had Tremlett to offer something different (steepling bounce). Unfortunately, the possible answers (Archer and Stone) are both injured, so samey bowling attack it is.

Not sure Wood could do 5 tests in a row either, his injury record ain't great.

Yeah obviously injuries haven't helped. Only option I can think of is Mahmood who I think is out there with the lions. Would probably go for runs but with 4 other bowlers he could have short spells where he might make something happen.

I guess Mahmood would offer something a little different. Mind you, we could have Trueman, Lillee, Barnes and Holding bowling for us and we'd struggle given we've dropped over a million catches.
