Could our game on Sunday against Newcastle be in doubt after what we have witnessed with Spurs?

Is it confirmed there is COVID-19 in the camp?

I imagine not. The wording was very careful not to say we had positive cases.

Surely it’s obvious the ones who haven’t travelled have not had the jabs?

Possibly.

Yeah, so why does that mean they have Covid?

Speaking ahead of the match, Rodgers said: "We've had a number of people, staff and players, who haven't travelled. We've had some positive (Covid) cases, some are generally not well, so we haven't taken the risk."

I think a couple have actually got COVID. Some of the others may not be 100% and instead of travelling and mixing and causing chaos, they have been held back. Maybe they have also held back some that are unvaccinated to prevent issues. It seems a bit vague but sounds like it is proactive rather than reactive.

Why?

I think you need to realise how football clubs work more. When a player gets done for a positive cocaine test unless the press reveals it they are out with an injury.

Exactly the same thing here, Brendan’s but going to say they can’t travel as these healthy young lads have refused the vaccination. Too much of a political shit storm.
I thought this kind of thing was fairly common knowledge.

Spolier for the gullible- players are tapped up all the time too and the offer from the club is never the first communication.

If that was really true then perhaps they are in breach of contract by making themselves unavailable by choice. Very unprofessional.

Not really, I know of numerous jabbed people currently who have it - doesn't really correlate that the members who haven't travelled are not jabbed

Rules for entry into Italy for the unvaccinated...

If you are not vaccinated, exempt from vaccination or cannot demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated

If you are not fully vaccinated, to enter Italy from the UK you must:

  • fill in the passenger locator form (EU PLF) to get a QR code to show to your travel provider and Border Police. You can ask for paper form if you do not have an electronic device
  • show evidence of a negative PCR or antigen test, taken within 48 hours before entering Italy
  • notify the Prevention Department of the local health authority of your entry into Italy. See COVID-19 Numeri verdi regionali for the contact details of local Italian health authorities
  • travel to your final destination in Italy by private transport only
  • remain in self-isolation for 5 days
  • take another PCR or antigen test at the end of the 5 days’ self-isolation.

Not the point he is making - if you aren’t jabbed then you can’t enter Italy without isolating for five days

yes we should exploit the hell out of this situation and spend the next 2 weeks sorting out our defence, set pieces etc etc. The only reason i'm happy that the game tonight is going ahead is due to Napoli missing 6 of their regular starters

If they play the game with just 5 players then we might stand a chance…

Absolute joke and inexcusable from the player it this the reason anyone on the list hasn’t made the trip.

Michael Irvin is talking about an NFL team here but it applies to this situation.

I'm not fully up to date on the rules abroad but I take it Poland and Russia allow unvaccinated people in without having to isolate? If this is the case it may be easier to work out if the players not going have tested positive or just unvaccinated.

Just get the 3 points tonight and come home happy, that's all I care about.

And if we go through then we'll have the same situation in the next and subsequent rounds if these fools don't get vaccinated. I've run out of patience and, I would imagine, so have the club.
