Reality check

What do people really expect.  We are mid table on a mid table budget with possibly only 2 outfield players that would have started today had we had a fully fit squad.  We went 2 nil up at Anfield and the commentator had to say let's not forget liverpool are missing their best centre half.  Whilst I dont always agree with Rodgers formations and certainly not with zonal marking....there ain't any club in the land that would not miss 10 first team players...we cant have a strong first 11 and a strong second 11...we are Leicester city not Manchester city.

We have a top six attack but a bottom six defense and that wins nothing. If we had conceded ten less goals we would indeed have been up there. Too late to do much about it this season. Look to get around 50 points and then get the defence sorted for next season.

Yeah. Why not bother with the new training ground and stadium expansion? We're mid table and shouldn't aspire.

Exactly! We've been unlucky with injuries. Season would be very different so far with key players not injured

Basically, we line up similar level to man utd in normal circumstances; 

 

Man U minus Wann Bissaka (ricardo), Shaw ( jj), Telles,(castagne), , Bailly (cags), Veron (evans) and Maguire (lil wes) and just lining up with Lindelhof, Jones, Mata filling in at right back and a u/23 player (like the lad now at Norwich) at LB. Would struggle. 

 

Then take Mctominay (wilf) out, Rashford (Barnes), Ronaldo (Vardy) too....and playing Fernandes who's not fully fit (youri) the moaning in the media woild never stop

 

We've just got to suck it up

Its a bit more than fitness. Its not really about ability , we have enough talented defenders although a Tarkowski would be a good acquisition. The general organisation is rubbish and even more so since Jonny has been half fit. We probably do need a new defensive coach who is not going to follow Rodgers's dictat. Brendan seems to have a poor understanding of defensive strategy.

Not agree.  We have enough talented defenders but there all injured 😫😫

You make a good point, i think most peoples frustrations come from HOW we lose games, not the fact of just losing.

 

If we had all of our players fit, and all firing on all cylinders, i think we could give absolutely any team a run for its money, including Manchester City & Liverpool.

 

The problem is, we have been plagued with injuries and inconsistent player performances such as Maddison who is instrumental but has been extremely poor up until recently.

 

Can you imagine if we had our full defensive line, Barnes, Madders, Vardy, Youri & Ndidi all playing to their best? we would be incredible.

 

I think this season is just going to be a long & tough storm which we need to ride out. There will be good wins, and plenty of losses but we aren't going to win anything, and we aren't getting relegated - Just ride it out, don't embarrass ourselves and go again next season.

 

I don't agree with being a mid table team. I think with a fully fit squad, and playing to our best consistently, we are a solid top 6.

For all the people who claim we're entitled, need a reality check, e.t.c, I don't think they understand the aim and ambition of the club, aim and ambitions change as the club grows - whilst it's good to remember where we've come from you look forward, not back, 'remember we were in League One once'.

 

Because we're a club growing with aims and expectations we can't afford to slip, go back, the work and money spent getting where we are, trying to get where we want to be can all be undone and get is a royal mess within one bad season, it's the gamble we've took, we've rolled the dice.

 

As usual, you need to be somewhere in the middle of thinking people are entitled, needing a reality check, almost seemingly happy to plod along, make up the numbers and those who have eyes for us to be better, strive to improve.

We're just a shit team in a shit cycle of hugely unfortunate circumstances, meaning we're even more shit than the shit we should be.

The one saving grace is Madders is 150% better than he was, meaning he is carrying the team almost single handedly at the moment. Shame everyone else is going the other way. How much more shit we need to put up with is another question..... Let's hope our luck changes or the club have the balls to so something about it.

It's our team.  We all want them to do well but we have to accept we have a really good 12/13 players but not 23! 😫

The injuries are crushing us now there is no doubt about it and the two replacements brought are simply not good enough.

 

Rodgers could have done better as well in various areas, he makes some baffling decisions at times.

 

We are on the cusp of blowing up with AFCON, we need some major defensive loans or purchases in January we can't rely on players coming back as we have seen with Ricardo.

 

We have quality in attack and can score goals for fun when we want... the defence is critical though.

 

Can't we get Praet back?

Kolo Toures fault this week, now that Maddision is no longer public enemy number 1!!

I said we would never win it in my lifetime ...it was fabulous....probably never win it again but who really cares.....they are our team and gave unbelievable memories

I do find it strange that wherever BR goes he ends up with an injury crisis

Maybe so but how can you blame him....90% of injuries are during games so maybe I am missing your point mate
