I’ll throw another name into the mix as a potential departure, this summer or next - Ndidi. A stand out talent for years here but his form (his hunger?) has fallen off a cliff this season. Cags & Youri are wiping millions off their sale prices almost every time they play. If we wanted to change our style of play (maybe a proper double pivot? Soumare & KDH?) and cash in on a highly saleable asset, I wouldn’t now be against it. Ndidi has been poor for a long time. Actually ever since we moved to a true double pivot his performances have dropped off. He’s not been awful but not as beastly as he was a few seasons ago. Complacency has entered the camp and it needs weeding out. KDH, JJ, Fofana, Soumare, Daka, Thomas will probably be the mainstays of the new look team with some of the others moved on. 10

A lot of noise around a player out of nowhere is very Leicester City. How he turns out of course, we don't know. Fofana was exceptional, Soumare the jury is out on. But attacking creative players are always the type you want to see us linked with. My only fear is he's a Maddison replacement. Maddison has been in exceptional form recently and whilst I wouldn't begrudge him a move, I feel like this summer we are going to see heavy rotation of players. Tielemans definitely goes, Ricardo might join him and I could see one or two others go without European football. We'd likely replace everyone that leaves, but our team as it stands is very likable, and two 5th place finishes plus an FA Cup win means anyone that was involved with the club during this era would leave as a hero. Rather than a potential Maddison replacement, could he not be the Perez replacement ? Bit of a number 10, being left footed can come in off the right, find pockets of space between the lines, basically do what Perez should of been doing for the past 3 years ! 3

He's very interesting player. This season I understand he's been playing as a support striker and doing a good job at it. Looking at his skillset he looks like he can play in a multitude of positions and it will be interesting to see what Rodgers (or a new coach) does with him. I could see him being used anywhere across the front line, or maybe even scheming a little bit deeper too. He doesn't immediately strike me as an out and out RW, but I think he has been used there in the past.

I was just thinking of ways how he can fit into our starting 11, assuming Rodgers and the club rebuild with the 4-2-3-1 as the preferred formation in mind, as £30m + is a lot to spend on someone who might initially be a Maddison understudy
coolhandfox Posted 10 February 2022 Posted 10 February 2022 This guy and Tarks would be a great start to the rebuild. 1

I say it all the time. I loved 4141 because Ndidi was a monster sat behind the two floating 8s. For me, I’d shift back to that system, even if it’s at the expense of Maddison needing to sit deeper. 1 1

Totally agree! 4141 got exposed specifically against Man City and Liverpool in late 2019 but otherwise was really effective for us. I felt we were a better attacking unit playing that way even if a bit more open. Personally I preferred that system. 2

I thought some of our best football came with Maddison and Tielemans playing as dual 8's 7

One game comes to mind, the 2-0 win over Arsenal at home where I felt we really dominated them from start to finish, with those 8's really causing them no end of problems. With the system change Maddison has stepped up, Youri was impeccable until his head got turned. So really only Ndidi fell off a bit. Switching to 4231, we got much better results against Liverpool and Man City so I can understand the switch. But I'd prefer if we were more aggressive against smaller teams and went that way against bigger teams TBH. At the end of the day it's all a bit moot. Clear out those that want to go, bring in some hungry new talent and let's rock and roll! Viva le reboot. 1

De Ketelaere is not a player which we should be using for that position, as a second striker he is ok but £30m is far too much for his services. McAtee would be a better bet, not sure what the English tax would make his price someone we should be targeting.
moore_94 Posted 10 February 2022 Posted 10 February 2022 (edited) Our interest also being reported in Belgium by HLN and our friend Kristof https://www.hln.be/voetbal/de-ketelaere-ook-op-de-radar-van-leicester-waar-tielemans-droomt-van-toptransfer~ac20c3ed/ De Ketelaere also on the radar of Leicester. In addition to AC Milan, Napoli and Atalanta, Leicester City now also has Charles De Ketelaere (20) in its sights. Charmed by his gift, mentality and progression. Leicester has been following CDK's performance closely for some time. The Red Devil (4 caps) is therefore on the list of potential reinforcements, even though national coach Roberto Martínez De Ketelaere prefers to stay in Belgium until after the World Cup in Qatar . Out of fear of that adjustment period and consequently a lack of playing minutes at his new club. Leicester's interest in De Ketelaere should not come as a surprise. Premier League club with an eye on young talent and certainly if it has a Belgian side – Tielemans, Castagne, Praet, Ndidi… Will CDK be next in that list? Which may not speak in favor of The Foxes: they are currently twelfth in England, so it doesn't look like they will play European next year. Edited 10 February 2022 by moore_94 2

I beg our Premier League pull™ is enough to make him join us. All 3 of those Italian clubs are likely to be able to provide European football though and have previously had Belgian talent come through and succeed...

lcfc sheff Posted 12 February 2022 Posted 12 February 2022 Been watching quite a few videos on this chap and it’s left me with a question. Where does he fit in? Although he can play either wing he seems a better fit behind the striker like Maddison… will Brendan go away from using wingers come summer and play two narrow forwards behind Daka/Vardy?

Could be that wide creative player on the right that Rodgers has been looking for rather than an out and out direct winger. No idea if that's a role he's been playing in Belgium. Think he's left footed as well, so would be cutting in from the right with an overlapping fullback provide width.

Tete looks a quality player on the right, can use both feet predominantly left footed. With Ricardo behind him we have a very good Right side. We miss out so much without the Right Winger. 1

To be honest, I think Madders will be one of the players shipped out in the summer. This guy is well capable of playing in that role and I’d imagine that’s what will happen.
