Wood is 30 years old and going for £20m. Looks like iheanacho is triple that then

Only if he is going to Newcastle I suspect!

Not only sell him, but sell him to a direct relegation rival… pretty stupid

Yes it is Dyche must be fuming. Their budget must be hundreds of millions. Their chairman must be a right tight arse

The release clause is only £20m? Didn't they pay £15m for him? How very strange and that no other club has activated it before given he's pretty decent at this level. Must have only just kicked in.

Good time to leak the news to Newcastle about Ayoze's £85mn release clause.

Put a Decimal between those two numbers and I'd still take it!

Nah, to be fair (and I'm probably going to get wrecked for this) I don't think he's been half bad this year. Since we started using him as a bit part player that comes on in the 70th minute, he has put in some half decent performances and done his part for the team. Not the scoring or contributing to goals part, granted but he's played A part.

Some journalists saying £25m tbf

Apparently Wood and Trippier have the same agent, and after closing the Trippier deal the agent let Newcastle know about Wood’s release clause

Burnley gonna be fuming

Wood is a good buy in their current situation - much better than a foreign player with no Pl experience

Yeah he is, a no brainer as he's the exact sort you'd want if relegation happened to score 25+ and immediately return. He's one of the most effective in the league outside the obvious lot.

And he will score a few in the PL to get them out of their current mess - trippier will deliver some decent crosses for him!

I think it’s good buy for Newcastle, not amazing but will do job but mainly they are weakening a direct rival. Realistically Newcastle will stay up and Burnley will go down this only helps that cause. Quite clever really.

Stupid from Burnley if the Wood to Newcastle deal goes through

They don’t have the choice as the release clause has been met

It's probably the tactic they have to take in the short term but Newcastle are going to be stuck with players on decent contracts that they don't want.

It’s such a gamble and could literally backfire horrendously if they do drop down into the Championship.

That is a lot of money for a 30 year old. He's a good player though, and as has been said, strengthens Newcastle while weakening a direct rival. Wonder who they will sign to replace him?

This also probably means Tarkowski will stay until the summer and leave on a free too. No way can Burnley let him go if they've sold Wood.

A serious rebuilding job needs doing there whether or not they get relegated

£25 million

Wood has been off form for Burnley this season as well.

That's a good chunk of money for Burnley to act in this window.

Cornet will move up front for them as a no.9 now
