Newcastle closing in on Tarkowski:

https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/17409713/newcastle-transfer-news-burnley-tarkowski/amp/

To save a click:

NEWCASTLE’S hopes of landing James Tarkowski are rising as their two main rivals back off.

[...]

Burnley are willing to take a bid and the Geordies are the only horse in the race as West Ham are now looking elsewhere while Leicester focus on a short-term loan solution.

When has ‘ a short term solution’ ever worked out for us lol

Tarkowski is too old for us I'd imagine....

Newcastle, Villa and Arsenal seem to be offending in terms of FFP.

Can anyone confirm this?

Is FFP relevant in any way any more?

No. We way under spend vs FFP.

Our challenge is king power not investing to the same level as other owners if you're comparing like for like but then I'm not sure spending ridiculous money is in any way sustainable.

That will always (currently) be our issue. KP wanting us to be sustainable and not chucking huge money in year upon year.

Arsenal after Vlahovic who would be an exceptional signing although he prefers Juventus or Man C.

I honestly think he’s a better all rounder than Haaland & would rather Man C came in for him than Arsenal get him.

Not sure accurate this is, but if true, looking specifically at Villa, then FFP is dead

Newcastle looking at Lingard apparently.

Could be a decent signing for them, but shouldn't they concentrate on a good centre half?

Yeh I've said for a while that Villa would be breaching FFP if the fa actually took it seriously anymore. The money they got for Grealish won't even touch the sides with the money they've spent since coming up on transfer fees and wages. Fair play to their owners for going for it and spending money but like others have said, it isn't sustainable and if their owners got bored and decided to leave they'd be bankrupt within a few months. KP have always made sure that our club is sustainable and whilst it can be frustrating when we see so many other clubs spending way more than us, we know the financial future of our club is secure even if KP do leave us in the future.

Villa's problems will come if and when they qualify for Europe.

saddling the club with too much debt also makes any sale difficult - as you point out, if the current owners want out then they will expect to receive what they deem sufficient and any prospective owner then has to pick up responsibility for those debts in addition to paying for the club.

you would think that villa are spending big because they have been told any losses for 2020 wont be counted in the 3 year rolling numbers. .

Yes and really we should also accept the league position that will ultimately average us out at.

I think the next few seasons will be painful for us fans as we see other clubs outspend us and out perform us while we remain prudent.

Some signing that is, £30m is very low as well given its January, its Newcastle and he's coming from a club who's top players often go for more than that.

You never know if the selling club has spotted something amiss, and want to cash in while they still can. Maybe losing pace, or going to too many nightclubs. On the face of it, looks a great signing for the Geordies, time will tell.

Tarkowski can be signed for free in the summer than why would anyone pay 30m for him now that about that's nearly 7.5 mil a month till the end of the season for him excluding wages.... crazy!

Burnley fans on Twitter posts say he's been s*** all season for them and wish he had got sold last summer

All this talk of Tarkowski. Just swoop in and get him on a pre-contract agreement. Get it done Rudders ffs

That's if he wants to come to us. There's better options for him out there now.
