Summer 2022 priorities (and realistic options)

Not sure we could get a work permit for him straight off the bat but Torben Rhein is leaving Bayern and was heralded as one of their best youngsters a year or two ago. A year at Leuven and then come and step in to our midfield with Braybrooke and Alves.

Just come back from a meniscal injury played for 29 minutes in his come back game. He looks really special. For some reason he just looks perfect to come here.

Holm and Swedberg are two Scandinavian midfielders destined for one of the big 5 European leagues and will make it. You can just tell, like you could with Jesper Lindstrom.

Add to the list above that Praet, Vestergaard, Bertrand SHOULD also be moved onto, we have a huge rebuild ahead of us. 

 

I've said it many times across various threads, but it really does feel like we'll look back at this season / squad in years to come and wonder "what if" we were able to get them all fit and on the pitch together. 

I thought RP had signed a new contract

Sell Iheanacho and don't sign Lookman and get Hlozek to be back up left wing or 2nd/3rd choice striker? Destined for West Ham I'm sure but he's had another superb season in the Czech league.

As always, we should move faster to secure our targets. They are getting snapped up fast

...we have had the Pearson regime who had got this spot on!!!

  Signing players soon after the end if season as they would have had things in place.

  The Tarkowski deal I would have thought, would have been locked down as well as the De Ketelaere acquisition. We do need to be ruthless in the way we go about our recruitment, we can't afford to allow other teams a chance to influence a potential incoming player. If that means getting the manager to the initial meeting ( to players, it shows that they really want him) then so be it.

  We are competing against sharks, we just need to swim faster and go deeper than the other fishes.

im really not sure how Everton will do things this summer, they hardly spent last summer tbf and are up shit creek with finance wise, 

bassey i can see at villa, and Tark doesnt fit the profile of villa signing, maybe newcastle for him or something but who knows atm

I know swap deals are very rare nowadays but Perez plus a lot of cash for Raphinha? Get a free Vestergaard with every Perez special offer?? Do they fit in Leeds pay structure? Actually I could see Choudhury there too, let's hire a mini bus, Perez, Choudhury and Vestergaard, plus some money. Leeds need a broader squad, can't believe they didn't add in January, escaped relegation by the skin of their teeth having missed Bamford, Phillips and Cooper for most of season.

Ito at Stuttgart has had a brilliant season on loan from a Japanese club. Left footed CB, was nominated for the young player of the year in the Bundesliga.

 

My only concern would be he's not the physical beast in the air I think we'd all be more comfortable if we could bring in as I'm not convinced through coaching alone we'll truly sort the set piece issue, an element of it is a lack of serially dominant players.

If arsenal really want youri it’s a no brainer to ask them for a straight swap for saliba! Him and Wes would be reunited and we have the French connection wall.

I dont know why we all put ourselves through this each transfer window, when we all know what will happen.

We will be stuck with all the players we want to sell (except Tielemans)

Then at the end of the window, we will sign some young lad for the under 18's

Then on the last day, a couple of panic signings, Ryan Bennett back to us on loan and buy Gary Taylor-Fletcher again

Arteta quoted as saying he is in his plans for Arsenal first team, as they have Europe next season and will need White Gabriel and Saliba.

 

either way, they bought him for £27m so they will probably want him back and playing next season

That’s my thoughts as well, just heard something different from someone so we’ll see if there was any truth in that.  Would love him here next to fofana.

strong rumours of juve wanting gabriel as well. Could end up as first choice in no time

I'm sure I've seen Saliba say he wasn't keen on returning to Arsenal. He wasn't very happy at being dropped into their U23s, apparently. Also has said he wants to try playing in the Champions League with Marseille again next season.
