Rory Best made a good point in the studio that if there is so much discussion and explanation needed for a rule then that rule is probably a bit too complicated for viewers and might put people off. Sometimes its unavoidable.

 

I get the rule but it did seem incredibly harsh on Italy today but I can see why the rule was in place.

 

Anything involving forwards in rugby can be quite complex and ever evolving so its difficult to strike the balance of simplicity whilst bringing new rules in to counter the manipulation of any existing rules.

 

It's still great to watch though.

Absorbing is probably the way to describe that second half. Two big chances missed for Wales really and no points in the second half is a shocking return for all their play. Who knows if Davies was right in saying they shouldnt have gone for the points for the penalty around 73rd to bring it to one? Tough call and it wasnt the most straightforward of kicks.

 

France won ugly but guess thats the sign of almost definitely soon to be champions.

Yeah, that's very true. I couldn't believe how much possession they wasted. It's a shame as there were a lot of good things. I thought the Welsh defended extremely well, Biggar was brilliant and Williams was awesome under the high ball. It was just a shame that the execution was way off in the key moments. Edwards certainly has that French defence super well-drilled.

Shame we couldnt get a French red card against them a month ago, could have been this year's Wales.

Rugby players are mental

Obviously in our favour and unfortunate to be head first marginally but thats 2022 rugby and a guess the rule is justified as its there to prevent injuries like the way Ryan was hit, regardless of whether it is accidental or not.

Doesn't really matter. 

 

The whole point of the rules being as strict as they are is to force players to reconsider how they tackle. 

 

It was a terrible tackle from a player widely regarded as not good enough to be in the team anyway who's just cost his team. It was the correct decision.
