He went back to his norm when he signed for them. We could have easily ended up with nothing! Plus 2x loan fees

If we don't sign a midfielder, he would be useful especially if Tielemans does leave. Praet's a decent player. He seemingly doesn't want to be here as deptt, that is the issue If Tielemans does leave and we bring in a replacement, Praet is stuck in the same position that he doesn't want
moore_94 Posted 27 June 2022 Author Posted 27 June 2022 Torino director is coming over to talk about Praet https://football-italia.net/torino-in-london-for-bremer-and-praet-meetings/ TORINO IN LONDON FOR BREMER AND PRAET MEETINGS Torino director of sport Davide Vagnati is heading to London, reportedly for meetings with Tottenham, Chelsea and Leicester City regarding Gleison Bremer and Dennis Praet. According to La Stampa newspaper, Vagnati is going to be in the Capital of England either tonight or tomorrow. He has several appointments lined up with Premier League clubs as the transfer market gets into full swing. A meeting is arranged with Leicester City to discuss Praet, as the Belgium international midfielder spent this season on loan at Torino at a cost of €1m. The player made 23 Serie A appearances, scoring two goals and providing two assists, so negotiations will try to either extend the loan for another year or work out terms on a permanent transfer. 1

In the Ghezzal deal when we bought him in, even going by Transfer Market valuations, we bought him for £12.6m (TM had him at £3.6m) and we sold him to Besiktas for £2.7m (TM had him at £10.8m). It seems we are getting played in our negotiation. Rudkin needs parameters and someone breathing down his next and not looking it seems to take the easier option. He has been in this role now for some time, I still feel there is a small-time head of the academy working in a shark tank. No one on planet earth was paying 10 million for Ghezzal: He couldn't cut it in the Premier League was pretty mediocre on his previous loan deals. Have no idea how TM would have him so high, but that's a joke. We squeezed out a few more quid on him and got him off our wage bill last year, which was worth more than an extra 900k on his sale price. The Turkish league was his level and we got as much as we could for him, especially in a COVID market. (We overpaid for him because Puel waited until the end of the window to get him, and they knew we had Mahrez money, which affects the market.) That "small-time" guy got over 7.5 million for Sowah last year, ffs. Sometimes deadweight is worth something, sometimes it's not. Ghezzal wasn't worth much; Praet is probably worth about 10 million. But seriously, how anyone could claim we don't wring what we can out of sales seems to forget some blockbuster sales over the past few years where we refused to budge. We get as much as we can, but sometimes it's worth taking less to shift the wages. 5
JimJams Posted 27 June 2022 Posted 27 June 2022 Donta taka da piss. We want a £50 Million for Gleison. Paid in full. By tomorrow, ora we add annuda £20 meelion. Hello, Leicester? We can only go up to £2mill. Including wages. Iss hard times. Maybe we take him on loan? With option to b... *#Eh! Stop laughing Lorenzo#*... Hello, Leicester seety. Still there? 3
Popular Post An Sionnach Posted 27 June 2022 Popular Post Posted 27 June 2022 Its laughable really, Dennis is easily good enough for the PL and is better than most midfielders in the division. This is entirely personal between Rodgers and him. So perhaps they don't like each other. So what! You have to work with people you don't like in life its a compromise you have to make. 3 5

I’d say it was more about game time/lifestyle he’s approaching an age where he wants to be playing week in week out and I think he accepts he won’t be getting that with us… also maybe he/his family just haven’t settled in England 🤷🏼♂️ 1
Sankey93 Posted 27 June 2022 Posted 27 June 2022 I’d keep praet! When he played for us we was a better team imo. Brendan dosent like for some reason tho 2

I wouldn’t go that far and don’t know how he’s thought of that! But Dennis is very solid and I’d be very happy if we kept him tbh we should of never got rid last season. 1

Watching the others perform too many on here overrate other teams players. Very few are outstandingly good , most are just solid pros. If you watch closely Dennis rarely makes a mistake always makes himself available for the pass and puts in a hardworking shift every time he plays. If you want spectacular , go somewhere else. We have seen what KDH brings to the table, Dennis does the same. 2

If this was true we would have most PL teams smashing down the door to get him, yet we are struggling to get a mid table Italian side to pay up You can't even use wages as an excuse as pretty much all PL teams would be afford his fee and wages as well 6

Its not personal between him and Rodgers. He's shown that he's not good enough to nail down a starting position and he's too vain to accept being a squad player. 1

However if he let's his personal feelings prevent him from using his players in the best possible way then I think that is a fundamental error. Ferguson neither liked or was liked by many of his players but the cause was much bigger than personal feelings .l didn't like him much but I respected him totally for what he achieved.
Popular Post Jobyfox Posted 27 June 2022 Popular Post Posted 27 June 2022 Is this debate still rumbling? Yes Praet is easily good enough to be a squad player in a team with aspirations to finish 5th-10th - as we have been the last few seasons. But he seems to want more than that, which is absolutely fine. If we’re a team that wants to finish 11th-16th on a regular basis then let’s keep him and play him regularly. If we’re not then sell him and get a good fee. These conspiracy theories about being left out because he doesn’t get on with Rodgers? I’ve no idea whether they’re true or not - but it might just be something to do with the fact he ain’t as good as: Maddison, Tielemans or Ndidi and, in terms of a having clearly defined role, Mendy and KDH. 6

I don't think he was bought for a specific role , he is a versatile experienced midfielder who can provide Rodgers with options when injury or loss of form happens.

Simple - if the manager doesn't pick a player that I like, he must be personally biased against them because I can't possibly be wrong and won't entertain the idea that my perception of a player isn't objective fact.

fox_up_north Posted 27 June 2022 Posted 27 June 2022 If he's in with a shout of making the World Cup squad, he'll push for the move. Fair play to him. It's not worked here, for whatever reason. 1
moore_94 Posted 29 June 2022 Author Posted 29 June 2022 (edited) Hopefully give Torino a push to actually make an acceptable offer Fiorentina a few million under what I would hope we would get as well (£8-10m) Edited 29 June 2022 by moore_94
