i think we actually won the deal in the end. He ended up off of our wage bill and we got actual money for him.

He went back to his norm when he signed for them. We could have easily ended up with nothing!

Plus 2x loan fees

Praet would add depth.  Soumare and Choudhury aren't going to play.  If we don't sign a midfielder, he would be useful especially if Tielemans does leave.  Praet's a decent player.

He seemingly doesn't want to be here as deptt, that is the issue

If Tielemans does leave and we bring in a replacement, Praet is stuck in the same position that he doesn't want

Torino director is coming over to talk about Praet

TORINO IN LONDON FOR BREMER AND PRAET MEETINGS

Torino director of sport Davide Vagnati is heading to London, reportedly for meetings with Tottenham, Chelsea and Leicester City regarding Gleison Bremer and Dennis Praet.

According to La Stampa newspaper, Vagnati is going to be in the Capital of England either tonight or tomorrow.

He has several appointments lined up with Premier League clubs as the transfer market gets into full swing.

A meeting is arranged with Leicester City to discuss Praet, as the Belgium international midfielder spent this season on loan at Torino at a cost of €1m.

The player made 23 Serie A appearances, scoring two goals and providing two assists, so negotiations will try to either extend the loan for another year or work out terms on a permanent transfer.

Its laughable really, Dennis is easily good enough for the PL and is better than most midfielders in the division. This is entirely personal between Rodgers and him. So perhaps they don't like each other.  So what! You have to work with people you don't like in life its a compromise you have to make.

I’d say it was more about game time/lifestyle he’s approaching an age where he wants to be playing week in week out and I think he accepts he won’t be getting that with us… also maybe he/his family just haven’t settled in England 🤷🏼‍♂️

I wouldn’t go that far and don’t know how he’s thought of that! But Dennis is very solid and I’d be very happy if we kept him tbh we should of never got rid last season.

Strong dislike of the current manager would be my almost omniscient verdict

Watching the others perform too many on here overrate other teams players. Very few are outstandingly good , most are just solid pros. If you watch closely Dennis rarely makes a mistake always makes himself available for the pass and puts in a hardworking shift every time he plays. If you want spectacular , go somewhere else. We have seen what KDH brings to the table, Dennis does the same.

Its not personal between him and Rodgers. He's shown that he's not good enough to nail down a starting position and he's too vain to accept being a squad player.

Nope ,I am entirely indifferent to Rodgers as a manager but then I am rarely impressed by managers in general. However if he let's his personal feelings prevent him from using his players in the best possible way then I think that is a fundamental error. Ferguson neither liked or was liked by many of his players but the cause was much bigger than personal feelings .l didn't like him much but I respected him totally for what he achieved.

But what evidence do you have to validate your opinion that he has become biased against or even for certain players? Maybe you are correct and I just cannot see it, whatever it might be. :dunno:

Is this debate still rumbling?

Yes Praet is easily good enough to be a squad player in a team with aspirations to finish 5th-10th - as we have been the last few seasons. But he seems to want more than that, which is absolutely fine.

If we’re a team that wants to finish 11th-16th on a regular basis then let’s keep him and play him regularly. If we’re not then sell him and get a good fee.

These conspiracy theories about being left out because he doesn’t get on with Rodgers? I’ve no idea whether they’re true or not - but it might just be something to do with the fact he ain’t as good as: Maddison, Tielemans or Ndidi and, in terms of a having clearly defined role, Mendy and KDH.

I don't think he was bought for a specific role , he is a versatile experienced  midfielder who can provide Rodgers with options when injury or loss of form happens.

Simple - if the manager doesn't pick a player that I like, he must be personally biased against them because I can't possibly be wrong and won't entertain the idea that my perception of a player isn't objective fact.

Which would be fine if he was happy to be a squad player, except he isn’t as he wants to be playing regularly, which he wasn’t doing here before his loan and probably wouldn’t be if he stays.

Hopefully give Torino a push to actually make an acceptable offer

Fiorentina a few million under what I would hope we would get as well (£8-10m)
