Claudio Fannieri Posted 8 July 2022 Posted 8 July 2022 Very neat and tidy footballer but doesn’t offer the numbers in terms of goals and assists. If we can recoup £8-10m and get his wages off the books it hopefully opens up the opportunity to bring in a replacement who can fit into Rodgers style of play …….and definitely not Harry Winks. personally I would love to see us bring in Alex Scott from Bristol City 1
moore_94 Posted 11 July 2022 Author Posted 11 July 2022 http://sportwitness.co.uk/leicester-playing-hardball-burned-club-year-handling-two-frustrating-situations/ Leicester are trying to figure out what to do with Dennis Praet. He was sent on loan to Torino last season, where he did well when fit, but the Serie A side never committed to a permanent transfer. This, according to Toro News, has left the Foxes a bit annoyed, as despite their willingness to lower their asking price from last year’s €15m, they only ‘intend to sell him outright, having been burned’ by the Italians’ ‘failure to redeem him this year’. Therefore, Leicester are wanting to make sure they don’t end up delaying matters even more, which would suggest the same would apply to Soyüncü. Certainly something to keep an eye on. 1

Cannot understand why City are so intent on pushing him out the door. He's under contract and a current Belgian International player. City seem to want two midfield players so why sell him off cheaply just to make another signing with all the risk that entails. Appreciate a lot of bad water has gone under the bridge but he's surely got to be worth another try. 10 1

He wants to be what Youri has been for the last 3 years, one of the first names on the team sheet. The reality however is that back then he couldn't hack it against Madders and Youri to regularly start over them and he won't be able to now with KDH and Madders being lock-ins for our lineup. 2

Sometimes a player just needs a break. We were all having kittens about Soyuncu replacing Maguire (including the manager, who was desperate for a Maguire replacement) .....on Cags' debut, the crowd backed him (knowing we had little choice but to do so) and he had helluva season, was integral to 2 x European qualifications and a cup win. Not bad for an afterthought

Because he's a good backup option but doesn't want to be one and is probably on too much money to be one. Without European games in the mix he realistically isn't going to be playing much football for us - which he will presumably want to be doing given there's a world cup on the horizon - and is also one of the few on our discard list we might actually get a reasonable amount of money for. Keeping him doesn't really do either party any favours. 2

Surprised the subs thing hasn't been mentioned more. Assuming a normal amount of injuries (say 2 x first teamers at any one time) ....previously kels or big Dan or mendy are limited to 3 or 4 starts a season and maybe a season average of 10 mins a week...with the 5 sub rule, they could realistically be getting 30 mins for 30 games a season and consequently feel much more satisfied 1

Not sure how many times he was substituted but the problem is probably a Brendan thing.

Even if Youri leaves and we don't replace him, which I don't think is all that likely, Praet is still at best third choice. We seemingly need to raise money for transfer funds and/or get the wage bill down. We have a player who the manager evidently doesn't rate especially highly, wants to leave for first team football and, unlike the rest of the players we want rid of, seems to actually be generating at least some interest from other clubs. I really don't see where the confusion is coming from.

alanf0x Posted 11 July 2022 Posted 11 July 2022 Could just picture him throwing a strop in training out in France and Brendan telling him he will ‘send him home’ similar to his awkward Sterling watch in the Liverpool documentary!

And this is coming from someone who on balance would probably try and keep him here if possible.
