That’s according to Firenze Viola, who say the price is too much for the Italian to stomach at this moment in time. Praet spent last season on loan with Torino from Leicester, and that has ramped up interest in his signature, particularly from Fiorentina, who are keen on a deal happening. Negotiations have been underway between the two clubs for several weeks, but they are yet to reach an agreement, and Firenze Viola explain why. According to their information, Leicester ‘have no intention’ of providing any discounts on Praet and are asking for €13-14m for his signature. Brendan Rodgers’ side are willing to sanction a loan deal for the Belgian so long as that includes an‘obligation’ to buy him at the end of it. That’s something that doesn’t doesn’t suit Fiorentina at this moment in time, with them expected to make an initial offer that is ‘much lower’ than Leicester’s demands. It means negotiations are needed between both clubs, with I Viola ‘most interested’ in a deal as they look to reinforce their midfield this summer.

My understanding was that he wasn't our top priority for transfers and we were looking to move a few players on and sign our main targets first before we try to get Lookman. There was a report that this is happening - of course no one knows
UHDrive Posted 3 July 2022 Posted 3 July 2022 Wouldn't surprise me that with the way the transfer window is panning out that we might recall him. I wouldn't mind, I always rated him. 3
fox_up_north Posted 3 July 2022 Posted 3 July 2022 It's a weird one. People will only pay what they're willing to pay. I used to think set your price and if no one offers it then fine but, realistically, we need to shift a minimum of 3-4 players. Leaves you with the following options 1) keep a player Brendan clearly doesn't rate because they can't get the price they want 2) loan him ad infinitum just to get wages down but likely lose him on a free 3) take less money but know you've got him off the books IF he can play and IF he can do the work of Mendy, Perez, Hamza, then keep him but it doesn't make sense to try and haggle when you know other clubs aren't willing to pay up
Micky Posted 3 July 2022 Posted 3 July 2022 He's leaving. Rodgers doesn't want him. He'll either go permanently or on loan. 2

Agree though, he’ll be gone I’d imagine come the end of the window. He’s one of those players, that is steady in what he does. He isn’t going to grab lots of assist of goals. He’s not really got a mistake in him either. He’s not athletic enough for us to play him and Youri though.
SouthStandUpperTier Posted 3 July 2022 Posted 3 July 2022 When a manager clearly wants rid and everyone knows it, it gives any potential buyer the upper hand. Hence the pisstake derisory bids from the Italian clubs. 3

moore_94 Posted 5 July 2022 Author Posted 5 July 2022 Not going Fiorentina then - but it at least looks like Praet and his agent are looking to get something done soon https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2022/07/05/do-not-interest-us-club-wont-sign-arsenal-ace-or-18m-leicester-man/ Fiorentina director Daniele Prade has ruled out the prospect of Premier League duo Lucas Torreira or Dennis Praet joining the club from Arsenal or Leicester City, speaking to Tuttomercatoweb. “Praet and Puig do not interest us,” he says. “We have never spoke about them. Dennis I know well, and his agent has always been my friend. We spoke in April but he is not a player we would go looking for.” Belgium international Praet wants a fresh start after spending 2021/22 on loan at Torino. He has just two years left on his Leicester contract. Napoli have been linked among others. “Of course, we have to understand what Leicester want to do,” says Praet’s agent. “Napoli? We have interest from some teams. We have been in contact with Napoli in the past but now, honestly, I can’t really say what will happen. Everything could speed up within a few days or weeks, because the boy wants to know where his pre-season preparation will start.”

Leicester have slapped a €13m price tag on Praet’s head with Torino working hard to take him back to Italy. However, according to Italian daily La Stampa, the Turin outfit have made it clear to Leicester that they can only fork out around €9m to €10m for Praet’s signature as things stand. Although Torino is yet to agree to Leicester’s asking price for the midfielder, they could still match the valuation.

Leicester_Loyal Posted 6 July 2022 Posted 6 July 2022 We'll sell him for less than 13m Euros I'm sure of it, this is us negotiating. If they offered 9 or 10, we'd probably accept. 1
Jobyfox Posted 6 July 2022 Posted 6 July 2022 10m Euros? That’s about £8.5m isn’t it? Italian clubs can’t afford big fees for average players like PL clubs can. Maybe we could seal the deal for around this figure with add ons for appearances etc. The truth is something has to give somewhere. I think it’s great that we hard ball over fees, but we need to get our transfer activity moving. Hanging on to a peripheral figure for a few extra million might seriously hamper us in the short to medium term. Maybe it’s time to start being more pragmatic and realistic? 2
VLC86 Posted 6 July 2022 Posted 6 July 2022 Honestly, with the situation we are in and getting his wages off the bill just accept the 8/9m and get him gone. 1

In the public that looks reasonable but behind the scenes thats a we pay 8/9m but you cover 50% of his wages for 2 years. The deal will be slimey so take things like that with a pinch of salt... they are trying to make it look like we are being unreasonable.
ALC Fox Posted 6 July 2022 Posted 6 July 2022 Praet out and Bourigeaud in for next to no net loss or gain wouldn't be bad in the scheme of things, I reckon.

Oh yeah i agree we are probably going to have to pay a % of his wages as well but honestly at this point literally nobody is paying Dennis Praet £85k a week so acknowledge the **** up and move on.
mozartfox Posted 6 July 2022 Posted 6 July 2022 Accept a lower bid but make them cover the difference in his wages. Then he is off the wage bill and we have some readies. Lesson to be learnt, do not loan players to Italian Clubs ever again.

Paying 50% of his wages over 2 years would be cheaper. Some players have bought themselves out of their contract.
filbertway Posted 6 July 2022 Posted 6 July 2022 Bring him back into the fold, we could do with another CM and clearly can't afford anyone.

Would genuinely rather persist with Soumaré than Praet. We've got more chance of selling Praet, he's probably on higher wages and we know he isn't good enough. Anyone that had seen his stats knew he wasn't good enough before he even arrived. Soumaré still has the potential to put a difficult adjustment behind him and actually come good. 13 1
