“I thought it would, but I wasn’t that scared.”

 

Goal on comeback?

“It meant a lot, as the first goal in front of fans for me. It was nice to score on my comeback.”

 

Battle with Ricardo and Justin?

"It's great for the team and when we have games every three or four days, it helps a lot. It's always better to have some fight for the position because it brings out the best of you. It's not like it's a negative fight, we all like each other. It's all good and fun."

These interviews really do fill me with confidence. I'm weird like that. However, every player is not hiding away from the reality that we have been shit this year. There seems to be a general acceptance that large parts its been unacceptable and they want to sort that. There's no "we've tried but been unlucky". Well none that I've seen. The mentality as it is can only be a positive.

There's real awareness and intelligence in Castagne's answers, not athlete robo-speak. 

 

Add in his work rate, the guts he showed coming back from a horrible injury, and I'm liking and respecting this player more and more.

Man i am pumped for this!!!  Was at the Randers game but i class this as my first proper European match. I expect the away fans to be noisy! The wife and my boy are well up for it too. Hope the people in front of us don't mind us singing like we were at the Brentford game

He is a top guy. I’m surprised he doesn’t get more support than he does. He has done well to come back after that terrible injury.

I remember him having the arse after one game where we’d come from behind to draw (I think). The reporter asked something about showing good mentality - Castagne basically had a go at him and said “how is it? a good mentality isn’t conceding in the first place”

Exactly what I said. There was a thread not long ago that was discussing getting rid of him and that he wasn’t quite good enough. Even criticising his injury record and form since joining. I know it’s only a vocal minority and that at that time there was a lot of criticism flying in every direction.

There will always be some fans like this especially when they're disappointed with how our season unfolded. If they want to get rid of a Belgium national team international I would expect them to offer all their bank accounts and bring a better one.
