Thracian Posted 23 November 2005 Posted 23 November 2005 It'll be closer still after tonight. Walking home with the fans I didn't hear a single good word to say about Levein. People were taking the mickey from the moment they heard the team news. Going home some were just stunned that we managed to throw away what could have been an emphatic win over 10-man Watford but others were just grumbling about how sick they were of Levein's continued presence and were joking that the stadium would soon be empty. There were certainly big gaps in the stands tonight.
GaZ Posted 23 November 2005 Posted 23 November 2005 Get rid now, he knows himself that it aint working . he's a blagger.
moseeds Posted 23 November 2005 Posted 23 November 2005 Talking about the huge gaps in the crowd. I turned up 10 minutes late with my friend. As we approached the ground we expected to hear some amount of "noise" from inside. It was eerily quiet! It was unbelieveable. There was not a sound to be heard from the stadium because I could still hear traffic from the main road. Not until we got inside the ground did we realise we were already 1-0 down which made it even stranger because you couldn't hear a murmur outside from any of the fans! Either the stadium has some amazing acoustics to limit noise, or.....
Teeno Posted 23 November 2005 Posted 23 November 2005 Allthough the situation isn't ideal a change in managment would mean more costs, a brand new squad and staff. and another long unsettled period. A man can only have so much time but if your going to get rid of a manager you not someone better to take his job, not only is no one really available who'd want to come here anyway?

Either the stadium has some amazing acoustics to limit noise, or..... Yes, I thought it was almost eerie inside as well. Everyone was stunned by the team selection and when Watford spent the first 15 minutes carving up our left flank and inevitably taking the lead they just looked on in stunned silence...not to make a murmur til we equalised. The crowd said everything in that silence and it was only a bit of quiet black humour that kept a good number of fans around me from leaving within the first 20 minutes.

A change of manager in our case doesn’t necessarily also mean a change in team. I personally think that most, not all of the players we have, are good enough to move us up the table, but only with a manager who has an idea about correct team selections, tactics, and has the ability to motivate the team on the pitch, before, during and after the match something that clearly isn’t happening under CL
MC Prussian Posted 23 November 2005 Posted 23 November 2005 Two polls about the same topic in a matter of days... I think you're panicking. Aren't you exaggerating a little with this? I voted "No" again if you want to know... Judge Craig Levein at the end of this season.
Guest Posted 23 November 2005 Posted 23 November 2005 Leicester City 2 Watford 2 This thread is perfectly ok, btw. Why is it? You're repeating yourself. You are obsessed. No amount of slagging off of the current regime will bring your precious back. We could be top of the table with the most fantastic manager in the world, and you still wouldn't be happy because it isn't your Micky.
Gené and Tonic Posted 23 November 2005 Posted 23 November 2005 yes, I've had enough of wasting my saturday afternoons and Tuesday evenings. Get Burley, Tilson or the Swansea manager in
Darth Fox Posted 23 November 2005 Posted 23 November 2005 Yes get rid. The board must be getting concerned about gates dropping every match and the inevitability of last nights result was so predictable. Leveins in his comfort zone and appears quiet happy to keep earning his wages as doesn't ffeel threatened. George Burley would be superb choice to replace him. But then again so would Stevie Wonder.

Voted No.. again, simply beacuse a point against Watford isn't a bad result ( even though we were 2-1 up with 5 mins to go playing 10 men ) I would of taken a draw before the game. I also thought we played some good football last night and were well worth three points, I wasn't happy with the mess ups he made in picking the team.... but for what he picked Leicester played very well in patches. Gudjohnson and Smith were nothing short of excellent. He's subsitiutions were stupid but then again, he was trying to run the clock down, say he gets another no. Although my patience is running very very thin.

Also the performance was more entertaining then games of late, I still doubt CL but he will get alittle bit more time from me!!!

Well this is the point he gets more time from some of us but how long has he got with the board. Surely they must be thinking, ello we're in trouble here 17th isn't really good enough even if he is saving us money. I expected them to speak up or at least give him a vote of confidence by now. Which basically means he's in his job for at least a month and a half.

The board just like the fans will soon lose patience, 18K fans yesterday and if results continue there will be less and less fans, and then the board will have to make a decision. CL quite arrogant and in all his press interviews after the game will rant and rave about how unlucky city are and how we should have got 6 points from the last 2 games etc, the board have to have words and break CL's bubble
Jon the Hat Posted 23 November 2005 Posted 23 November 2005 If the player are capable of that performace when the tactics are bad and the substitutions worse, what would they be doing if we had someone with some ideas in charge? Surely Burley would be worth a go. Have him in place before Levein goes. I'll probably change my mind later but I'm still pi$$ed off.
The People's Hero Posted 23 November 2005 Posted 23 November 2005 No nils for either side last night. CL must have been devastated. "Where have all the nils gone?" he was heard to cry.
trueblue_j Posted 23 November 2005 Posted 23 November 2005 why should cl get the axe hes made some decent signings they just aint playing as well as they should do keep cl in
adam Posted 23 November 2005 Posted 23 November 2005 why should cl get the axe hes made some decent signings they just aint playing as well as they should do keep cl in hes also signed some terrible players! Elvis, Sylla, Gilbert, Kisnorbo just to name a few!

A poster on another site interesting refers to the fact that Watford are third in the table and we could have beaten them decisively. Ignoring that Watford could have settled the match in the first 20 minutes because of Levein's stupid selection, the truth is that City DID outplay Watford for swathes of the match. The players HAVE shown themselves able to compete with the best. It is only Levein who fails to orchestrate them properly that costs us results ... and it happens time and again.

Ric Flair Posted 23 November 2005 Posted 23 November 2005 Allthough the situation isn't ideal a change in managment would mean more costs, a brand new squad and staff. and another long unsettled period. A man can only have so much time but if your going to get rid of a manager you not someone better to take his job, not only is no one really available who'd want to come here anyway? I agree. It's going to be pretty horrific if Levein went anyway. For example if we sacked him then we would have to pay the remainder of his contract up which would probably evaluate to about half a million pounds. Then you've either got to appoint an unemployed manager or if you go for a manager currently at another club then there's compensation to pay just like we did for Levein. Then they'd want to bring their own players in, which is again unsettling and the fans can't build up any sort of rapport with them. Obviously if Levein does get the boot then George Burley would be the obvious choice as there's no compensation to pay and I reckon he could probably get our current bunch of players working together without too much tinkering but even so it's massively unsettling. You can kiss goodbye to signing any players for a transfer fee again, any money we have left would go on the manager and with falling attendances and no parachute payments left we could easily find ourselves in a situation like Coventry and when you have no money the players you sign are often short term fixes. That is something I cannot handle.
