We might be in a different place right now. You may not agree with him, but he speaks a lot of sense imo. Card carrying Red, here - but I’ve loads of time for him. He’s a lovely bloke to talk to - and one of those rare Tories who has a heart, empathy and compassion. Always reckoned he was in the wrong party. 18
Bellend Sebastian Posted 28 September 2022 Posted 28 September 2022 Has anyone listened to today's episode of 'The rest is politics'? In it Stewart describes Kwarteng as a friend that he has known for a very long time (since they were at Eton, no less) but at the same time manages to make him sound like a massive, massive **** 1
Bellend Sebastian Posted 28 September 2022 Posted 28 September 2022 A quite tame word there being auto asterisk-ed out to make it look like a worse one

Livid Posted 28 September 2022 Posted 28 September 2022 Either they are taking great delight in gaslighting us all or they literally insane and we should really look at getting them some mental health help. By the time they ride into Birmingham for their party conference it’s going to be very ugly. I doubt many of them will be pressing the flesh around the city centre.

Given current and possible future events, is this really a good thing?
ozleicester Posted 29 September 2022 Posted 29 September 2022 There are those on this site that support the corrupt Tories no matter what, they then deny the pointless and proven failed Tory tools are being used, even when their incompetent leader says she is using them. The British prime minister, Liz Truss, spoke last week to the UN general assembly of the glories of trickle-down economics, and told reporters that “lower taxes lead to economic growth, there is no doubt in my mind about that”. The current government have possibly done more damage to human beings than even the witch that was Thatcher.... and still, as long as they got a pay rise, the greedy scum continue to support them. 2

Those same people were probably also the ones petrified of Corbyn and the damage he would do with all the spending he had planned. I wasn't a Corbyn fan but at least he wanted to spend the money on something to try and help the country be stronger and not just a tax cut for the richest in society. The current government are an abomination and anyone who would still vote for them should be deported to Rwanda because that's the level this country is going too under them. 2

Not saying you are wrong, but you are going into the land of hyperbole and point scoring here. The situation is somewhat different now what with covid, fuel crisis' and war in Ukraine As pointed out yesterday, the Labour party or any party would have pushed through the same cuts and spending - the way it was delivered, especially without an OBR report was totally shocking though Not justifying the Tories, they are done, but we should keep the blame game in the realm of the factual

bovril Posted 29 September 2022 Posted 29 September 2022 I envy people who are still concerned with Labour's record when last in power as they clearly haven't had as rough a time of it over the last ten years as most 4

Evidence was provided to the EU where he was the block to introducing tax laws. - Tusk as Polish PM saw over an economic austerity campaign and showed support for Orban. A British leftie wouldn't support any of that Edited 29 September 2022 by CosbehFox 2
bovril Posted 29 September 2022 Posted 29 September 2022 Listening to some of her interview this morning is painful. She was obviously not cut out for this. My feelings towards her now are similar to how I feel towards Harry Maguire, from dislike to pity.
