Last Monday I cruised through a club run with the last 2k being at 4:15min/km pace. Tonight, first run back from catching a cold after our game against the Hammers and I've just suffered through 6km in 35 mins lol

As a strength & conditioning coach I can happily agree with the recommendations around strength training for not only helping over come the barriers, but also going a long way to reducing injuries as well if done right!

Did my first 10k in about 7 weeks yesterday, the only positive is that when I got the phone out to get a lift back on 7k I managed to talk myself out of it.

First run this morning in 16 days due to a foot issue. Just my usual morning 3.5km loop. After reading that you start to lose fitness after a week and then a large chunk of fitness after 2 weeks I was expecting much worse. Didn't feel too bad at all. Just hope my foot holds out.

I finally tried Market Harborough parkrun this morning. It was a good morning for running, volunteers were great and well organised. Overall a bit disappointed by the course. A bit too tight paths with too many runners.

I'll probably stick with the Leicester options in future.

Finally back running after not really doing much for the last 5/6 weeks. (Mixture of work and the weather meant that I haven't really had much motivation)

Did a 5k on Saturday in 28:30 which I was quite happy with as I wasn't sure I'd even be able to do the full 5k without stopping.

Then today I wanted to beat that and did 5k in 27:30. Found that tougher at that pace but pleased with that. Going to see if I can do a 5k every 2/3 days whilst I'm off work for the next 2 weeks and see what time I get down to. (Hoping to get under 26 mins). Then will see about upping the distance in Jan.

Really need to get back doing some form of fitness. Stopped playing football regularly due to work and haven’t been for a run for a few years!

The thought of stepping out and doing it isn’t a pretty one, especially with the weather.

Best time of year to do it in my eyes brother, not really been icy this year (yet) either. Get the minutes in the tank now because it'll be June and bloody sticky soon

I fitted in 10k yesterday and I don’t know how I did it. I’ve been a pig on the booze this month and my interest has completely waned with it

In the same boat. Sure post Christmas my motivation will be back...

Since my last park run (fab time but felt it all weekend) its been client lunches and dinners and the odd christmas drinks.

Need to get back on it fast in the new year.

Planned to run today but my legs from Mondays gym session mean it was a no go, sat at the Christmas dinner table with a combined total of 3 knee replacements and 2 hip replacements and I'm the least mobile by a country mile!

Today has been my first day off running since November.  :scarf:

I was doing a 25/25 challenge (meaning at least 25 minutes exercise for 25 days) which I did by running 5km every day from 1st Dec to Xmas Day included.

My times are nearer 35 min than 25 min lol, but I got it down to 32 min on a very hilly course by the end.

Nearly all of the runs involved setting out at 05:30ish, as the Mrs was doing the challenge with me and she doesn't feel safe running outside in the dark on her own and needed to set out early for work, so I went out with her.

Looking forward to a few longer runs, done a bit less frequently. Starting Saturday.

Did 5k yesterday. Only had Christmas Day off exercise but legs were in bits from the couple of days leading up to it.

Got some new trainers which seem really decent but I didn’t enjoy the feeling of my lungs being on fire when I finished.

what trainers have you gone for? I did gait test and over pronate a bit so gone for some asics gel Kayano (stability) think they are called. Also bought some asics Novablast 5 they are very springy but do get some foot pain on longer runs - better suited to neutral runners I think
