Attempting a half marathon route tomorrow morning across Woolacombe/Croyde/Saunton and back. Looks extremely hilly.

It will be hilly - good luck, you will need it 😳

I can't run atm. Think I've got sciatica. Ran with a bad back last week including a ten miler. But pain has shifted to left buttock or top of leg. Pain dull but then shoots up the back during a run. Think I aggravated it by running last week, although it felt better post run. I'm actually limping a little bit now.

Hate having time off. Don't know whether to grit my teeth and give it a go, had three days off running now already and gate the feeling of going backwards 😂

Just done a run after a few days off with what I think is sciatica. Was back pain now is aches in my left backside cheek 😂 think it's subsided a bit but still there.

I simply can't sit around for days doing nothing, it's boring!

Done 16k, in an elapsed time of 1:28, had 8 mins stopping total. Getting shin splints again which is annoying me because I thought I'd seen the back of them a month or so ago so have to stop to shake my legs.

Did do a couple of sprints late on in the run at interval type pace. Did do one k in 4 mins late on which I'm pleased about considering my condition right now!

Next big run for me is the Peterborough half in October. Hoping to get close to 1:30 if training before still goes well

I've done that but as a walk 😂

Are you going to incorporate the coastal path?

Route change for the Leicester half this year but no map yet?

is there a new route? the website is still showing 2024 info so that isn't helpful

if they do change it, can imagine they'll skip watermead as I remember it being touch and go last year, until the night before if it would even go ahead due to flooding. plus they've pushed it back 2 weeks this year as well

Hopefully they take out New Walk at the end.

Last time I did it I'm pretty sure a woman walking with a pram overtook me.

What an experience! Most of it was coastal path on the way out and then from Saunton back to Woolacombe was chaos as my GPS went wappy and was all over the shop with cows, sheep and ravines. But got the fcuker done.

Loved it

Brentford do similar. I’m sure their record is sub 3 minutes

Yeah one of their analysts absolutely rinsed the lot of them 😂

Can anyone recommend some good shoes for longer distances, I'm talking half marathon or marathon distance? For probs no more than £150

Think my Brooks have had it with about 600km on them, and all my other shoes i think are more 5/10k speed run shoes.

Brooks Glycerin 22 are the shoes I've previously had

The only thing I'd say is go to a proper running shop, get fitted and see what they say. A shoe that works for one person may not work for the next.

It's the most expensive way of buying shoes but I cut down the long term costs by getting my next pair (either the same or the updated version) online

Yeah I've done that a while ago mate when I bought the Brooks'. Had a gait analysis done.

Online is so much easier for my size though than finding what I want in store usually

I'm a size 12.5 in Adidas and New Balance so I can relate to that!

I've generally found it easier to get specialist footwear like running shoes than I have just getting something nice and casual to wander about in though

Yeah I'm 12.5 according to my gait analysis 😂 because of feet swelling when running I definitely need 13s or 13.5  but they're definitely harder to get hold of. There's a ton of variety of shoes out there but hard to gauge whether they're good for long runs usually, reviews are always a bit shite with that

Another 12 miles in the tank today.

Starting to get a recurring ache in my right groin that I’ve not had for a year or so which isn’t ideal but hopefully I can keep battling through it.

I use my saucony guide 18s for anything more than 8 miles and my saucony guide 15s for pace running which are slimmer design. Got fitted for both at leicester runner and will get the next pairs online. Gait analysis was 30 quid but free if buy the shoes. It's worth it as I wanted mizunos which were dearer but my feet landed a bit twisted when we played the footage back.
