Utter nonsense, but let's go around again and see if we can build this up to 300 pages of thread....

You can't really care too much about the result if you're clearing off home with over 10 minutes left.

End of? This is a woeful defence.  The Oxford debating society would have a field day!

We are supporters. Not spectators. We are PART of the product. We actually, genuinely can have an effect on the outcome of a game. Leaving early is a selfish act. Putting self ahead of the community. Just to get home for, in this case, songs of praise (which is available on iPlayer anyway)

Amazing that you attend and don't know this.

Think you’ll find songs of praise listeners will be late to the match as it’s on early afternoon you heathen.

I don't get why this is an issue, if people want to leave early let them its not a personal attack on those that stay

When I was younger playing professional basketball it was demoralising seeing fans leaving early even when as a team we had a slim chance to turn the game around. Ofc nowadays I guess players are generally thick and they might not care that much but it's more than obvious a proper loud support still has an impact on the flow of the game. It happened today after 1-2.

As I said earlier I'm not leaving even if we're 0-9 down.

I didn't, I stayed until the last kick as I have done since the 1970's. I'm just bored by the endless virtue signalling, arse wringing from those who want to comment on others. Honestly why would you give one unless you were looking for 'likes'?

Who cares about likes. It's an opinion. You don't have to read it or comment. Well done on not missing a kick since the 70s.

Everyone as left a game early in their time. There's not a single football fan that hasn't, why it gets people wound up I don't know. If fans want to wait till the end and applaud the team then fair enough that's up to you, I'm sure the players appreciate it. If people want to leave early then let them go, its not a criminal offence for wanting to leave early.

I genuinely haven't.

In fact my first games were the opposite... my dad would take us to the turnstiles when they were opening for fans to leave. We'd sneak in to watch the last few minutes!

Ever since I've always thought of being inside a stadium as a treat, and even when the result is beyond conclusion I've never left before the final whistle.

I genuinely can't remember leaving a game early. Even on the end of the biggest thrashings, still hung around for some weird reason lol

It isn't virtue signalling from my angle - it's because people prevent others' enjoyment of the game by their actions.

It's just one of those things that has come to be seen over time as disrespectful. You might not agree with social norms, but as with all sorts of things you can either respect the norms or be seen as bad-mannered and selfish. Leaving a game early, to me, is a bit like speaking in a theatre or a library, or bringing your packed lunch to a bar. Those around you, and those doing their jobs, don't approve, so you're likely to come across as being disrespectful if you insist on doing it. Perhaps all of us have done all of these things at some point or other, and had our reasons, but it's not worthy of defending. And I wouldn't want to make an enemy of a librarian either, because they can be quite spiteful.

I made an enemy of my school librarian and she refused to sign my leavers card. 36 years later and I’ve still not officially left school, might squeeze into my old sports kit and pop in for PE tomorrow.

Erm... You're sooooo wrong, because I never have and I know plenty of others who haven't.

Don't ever make the mistake in life, about anything, that everyone is like you.

here who think the world revolves around football. It doesn't. Some people might, as I've said before, have families to get back to, trains and buses to get on where leaving a few mins early might make

This is anecdotal and opinion, I accept,.but many of the people I see leave give off visual vibes of having absolutely nothing in life that necessitates them leaving early.

Whereas many of those who stay appear to be urbane, sane and have had sex at least once in the last two decades.

Soz, can't read anymore. Have to leave the thread early to go drop a load on the wife's tits.

Don't make it too heavy, they're sagging enough as it is.

Went to the England womens game at the stadium.  Evening kick off loads of kids and was pretty much full until the full time whistle.

Same for the Bournemouth game in M block mostly non members and obviously non season ticket holders and hardly anyone left early.

I'm convinced it's the people who are still going out of habit and don't want to add to atmosphere but want to keep their season tickets are a big chunk of the early leavers!
