Could have sold Praet for £7m, Soumare for £15m and yet rejected both and missed out on Lookman and numerous other reasonably priced wingers. We are a disgrace. It really does seem like the board/directors are trying to make Rodgers job as hard as possible so he walks. It's not the path I'd choose as I think Rodgers is more than capable of spinning it all in his favour. "The club were unfortunately unable to add to the side and weren't willing to move on players, they clearly backed me otherwise I would have been sacked"

Really feels like we’re ran by amateurs at the minute.

Your telling me we don’t even have that?? Don’t think it’s the fee mate, it’s the squad place and the wage bill. We should be selling higher paid guys and replacing them with young hungry players on lower wages, I’m sure that’s exactly what we will do next summer. Main problem we have now is no one wants to buy our overpaid shite players… 2

But like Ric said, we had the chance to sell Praet for 7m, Soumaré for 15m, that’s 2 big chunks off the wage bill and squad list but we haven’t seemed to go for it. Just all very amateurish at the minute.

JimJams Posted 24 August 2022 Posted 24 August 2022 I understand frustration at not signing players, but not this f#*king guy. 1
Brizzle Fox Posted 24 August 2022 Posted 24 August 2022 Can't be arsed to read this thread but is this the guy who was on loan at Notts Forest last season? If he's any good and bearing in mind they've bought like a 100 players, why haven't they bought him. On that basis I am a robust no. 2 1

I noticed last season in a few games that Lookman was really off the pace and Rodgers was well aware. Was Rodgers talk of signing him smoke amd mirrors because he knew he wasn't what we needed? I don't want to diss lookman too much because he is genuinely talented and did well for us, just too patchy for me. 2

Too patchy when compared with our other really consistent wingers … he was probably in our top 4 performers last season for me, was an absolute no brainer to bring him in permanently. Now we’re switching to 3 at the back or using Perez again … speaks volumes unfortunately 3

I remember Leeds away and I thought he looked really good, but I’m sure he got a poor review on here. He looked tidy, got about well, got stuck in. Not a classic wingers performance but a good performance in a gritty away game nonetheless.

What sense does it make to reject bids on players that the manager refuses to use, and then decline to change managers? Who does that help?

He scored 6 goals and missed a hatful of sitters as well as running down blind alleys more often than not and making the wrong decision. In hindsight to where we are, I'd have took him all day long. No denying he had the talent. 1

As I've said in this thread I do beleive he had the talent, he just needed more time and sometimes it isn't easy to feel settled on loan. 1
Supergray22 Posted 25 August 2022 Posted 25 August 2022 From what I have seen of this guy I’d love to see him here. Young and hungry with a lot of skill and drive. At a reasonable price too. If we can pick off a few young talents from the greedy six because they can’t wait for the finished article then that is to our gain. Tommy Doyle on loan to Sheffield United is another good example. A shrewd signing like that would also help inspire our own youngsters.

We need to get rid of at least 2 more but nobody wants our players as they’re all over paid. It’s our fault for signing average players and paying them top whack. We had a proper chance to break in to the top 6 long term but unlike the traditional top 6 clubs we can’t recover quickly from mistakes made in the transfer market by spending more ti resolve it. Look at Chelsea, they signed Werner and he flopped and then sold Lukaku and the flopped and yet they’re still spending close to £200m this summer.

I've tried to see logic and sense in the clubs behviour and it literally just seems to be a staring contest between Rodgers and the club at the minute, waiting to see who blinks first. Rodgers will not walk from that money, not a chance.
