I know they have had money problems but Derby are charging £5 to watch the match online when we are also streaming it on YouTube for free lol

Brendan has said both games the players starting will get the full 90 minutes unless there's injuries. So don't expect to see any academy players trying to break through bar Iversen who's old enough to be a few people on here's Dad.

Yeah, you can't really count players that have been on loan and proven themselves over a season or two as giving academy players a chance.

 

I'm amazed that people are making excuses for Rodgers not giving these lads a fair crack in pre season. It seems like there's always a ready made excuse available. How Alves hasn't been given a crack on the right hand side I'm not sure.

 

The worst excuse I've seen so far is that we need to get players that have been asked to find new clubs match fit, even though they'll likely go weeks without featuring and end up losing that sharpness anyway.

Seeing how Milan are unable to submit a bid for CDK that satisfies Brugge, why not try and sell Iheanacho (given the state of the striker market it should be easier than any of our other players) and use those funds to then make an offer of €35m to Brugge for CDK

I don't see how that last line is a bad excuse either, putting people in the shop window, plus a player is obviously going to be more attractive to potential buyers if they've had some minutes under their belt and are fit and ready to go? 

 

Not excuses, just a bit of explaining/possible reasoning behind some of these decisions. Either way, it definitely won't be anything to try hinder the young lads' development, so seems a bit strange to direct complaints at Rodgers on this occasion. 

I understand there's reasoning, but by that token, there's always a reason to never do something different if you adopt that philosophy.

 

When the season starts it'll be "we can't risk losing points in league games". When the cups come round "we need to give fringe players game time". 

 

We can send the lads out on loan if he doesn't rate them or trust them. Keeping them at the club and not playing them is the worst thing we can do.

I'm not sure if we're hindering Thomas at this point. He only plays when there are injuries (which are obviously fairly regular under a Rodgers regime :p) which isn't ideal.

 

It sounds like you agree they should be loaned out then if they're not good enough to be getting regular pitch time. I'm not averse to that at all, I just want them playing men's football and starting their development path into our first team.

 

Keeping them as emergency back ups incase of injury would be absolutely sickening. If they don't get at least 30 mins tomorrow I'd be asking for a loan move.

Not sure how many of the subs will get on. Assume Ndidi and Hamza might both get a half, not convinced too many of the others will get on - Wright maybe, keeper swap at HT?

Ricardo -  Fofana - Evans - Justin

    Maddison - Soumaré - KDH

   Perez     -    Vardy    -    Barnes

 

Again imagine Marc will get some minutes in a straight swap with Ayoze, and Iversen and Kasper a half each, given the latter is only just back. But not sure many of the others will get on the pitch.

 

Hope to be proved wrong though, and don’t see why Braybrooke, Alves, Nelson and maybe Marcal-Madivadua couldn’t all get 30 mins as well.

pretty sure someone from the local media posted they were told the plan was for everyone to play 90

Absolutely, would much prefer it’s what you’ve suggested. No point in continuing with the 3 atb in friendlies if we’re not planning on using it much this season. Surely makes more sense to have both teams playing more or less similar set ups?! But what do I know…
