EFL Cup - 2nd Round Draw

Tonight after Sheff Weds vs Sunderland finishes. 

 

First time entering this round since 2019.

 

Presumably we'll be in Northern Section again. So could face the likes of smaller clubs like Barrow, Morecambe or Derby...

Failing that, hopefully Bristol City get through - them at home would be nice. Fancy a bit of hero worship with Nige, Kingy and James back down here for a night.

Early round league cup games are consistently some of the best away ends we turn out, hopefully it's a relatively local tie at a ground we've not played at for a long time (or ever).

We've been doing quite well with cup draws for a couple of years, so I can only assume it's time we get an all prem reserve clash in round two at home

Yes, Round 2 is still split North/South.

 

Hopefully a nice away day that isn't much further North than Manchester (although Barrow would be unique). Bradford, Lincoln, Sheff Wed (if they make it), Derby, Forest, probably some other decent ones.

 

I really want us to go for this cup this year. Not like we are going to challenge anywhere else. Trip to Wembley, silverware, European football. And most big teams don't take this seriously. Just need to be careful in the early rounds.

Plastic MK Dons away purely to save myself £30 in fuel if we are in the south draw and if we in the north draw then anyone home as I think that's the nearest northern club for me as Northampton seem to be in the south draw
