Sorry mate I was just jesting around the rain - I didn't realise you were going to take the trouble of explaining it all.

.... yeah, sometimes I have trouble knowing when something is a Poe and when it isn't. :D

Increasing global average temperature = more water evaporated into the air from bodies of water = more severe storms = more rain over less time.

Extremes of weather rather than consistent temperate conditions (droughts and flooding as well as increased heat) that depend on location are part and parcel of increasing temperatures, along with other consequences.

The issue isn't just one consequence - it's many, which is a big part of the problem.

The general point is that warmer air holds more moisture = more rainfall

(It should be noted that when the weather has turned cooler this summer it’s been pretty much dry. The downpours have come with more humid air. )

Suppose to be going Bridgnorth Saturday, but with weather and flooding a decision may have to be made about going. We certainly need a day or two without rain. According forecast it's going to be a dry two or three days with a bit sunshine in most places. Certainly need it.

Cosby impassible this morning.

Seen images/video of flooding under the motorway bridge in Narborough, a few houses and cars looked to have been in trouble. The train station was underwater too.

My heart goes out to anybody who's home or business has been damaged.

I can imagine the roads in Leicester are going to be a nightmare this morning.

Correct.

Racecourse roundabout is submerged on London Road, completely closed.

And through it all the BBC weather reporter guy tries to stand up with the wind and rain battering him.  He warns of 'death' and power cuts as Christmas lights illuminate the windswept pier.
