(Ps. he is still our best centre back)

He shouldn’t be.

Nelson should’ve been persisted with at the start of the season because whatever the question is, Faes and Vesty aren’t the answers.

... and in 2 games off the bench he has a goal and an assist. Marauding upfield while looking solid and motivated.

He's more than good enough for this level.

Marauding upfield to not win the ball and leave Lurch 1 on 1 for their second goal. Massively at fault for that goal and that's why we need to get rid. Not saying he isn't good enough for this level but he just makes a silly amount of mistakes.

I know people are put off by Nelson after his shocking first half on Weds but he's clearly proven he's good at this level and has got potential to get much better, so should be in

Bear with me (I've not been drinking, honest) but in light of our current lethargic shambles of a midfield that we currently have with zero drive or ability to beat a man, is it not worth putting him in the midfield pivot instead of Soumare. At least he shows regularly a desire to drive forwards (albeit at centre half that leaves lurch on his own).

I caveat this by saying I feel physically sick writing this, but I can't bear to see either of Soumare or Winks in a City shirt again.

We were pressing high as a team with Wout doing well in attack and progressing the ball. Winks gives the ball away and 5 seconds later it's on our right flank with Bouba "chasing" his man leaving him free to cross, Okoli in no-mans land, leaving their striker with the task of breezing past Vestergaard to tap in.

If the instruction is for Faes to go up and press, as he was fresh and had been doing well up until that point, how's that his fault? We had 2 other CB's covering, we had the ball on the edge of their box with Winks.

Because he's a centre back! All well and good pressing but if you go that high up, you had to make sure your successful. Plenty of people culpable for the goal but he's massively at fault for leaving his other centre back (Okoli was playing right back) isolated, as he would be at the best of times, let alone when that centre back is beyond slow. Let's be honest, don't think may of us to give Winks much benefit of the doubt at the moment but he won it back in and was immediately crowded out so not really his fault for losing the ball.

I also think it’s worth giving Faes a try in midfield. He’s always like to carry the ball forward and has to be better than Soumare. Put Nelson in defence. The Huddersfield match would have been an ideal chance to do this. He doesn’t always lose possession with these runs.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Always laugh at these sorts of suggestions but I can see the logic - he literally can't do worse than someone like Soumare.

Play him and Nelson.

Anyone but Vestergaard.  He's a sensational passer between the lines but I am terrified everytime he presses, zero recovery pace.

I don't think he's mobile enough for this position. I think he might be better as a libero, but position has fallen out of fashion.

Seems his celebration against Sheff Wed back fired on him at the weekend.

You can't have a go at the fans for scoring a goal and then back to your usual playing self the week after.

Tool!

He's not a centre half that's been clear for some time.

He also lack humility. That's been clear for time.

He wants away. Again that's been clear for some time.

Why doesn't he just **** off? The fact no ones beating down his door should say it all to the frizzy haired twonk but I assume he's not the brightest bunny.

I mean he has made a successful career of playing there for club and country, but you go with it.

His attitude the other week was daft, but so are any fans booing him, if we're honest.

He's more than good enough at this level. But he needs a CB partner with some sort of pace and aerial ability to make up for when he pushes up so high. Used well, it's an asset. And hell knows we need all the assets and advantages we can get right now.

Agent probably sitting on the millions of pounds as well.

Really? It depends what you define as success.

He's had very few good games for us in my view.

He drops an absolute clanger in more or less every game that I've watched him.

If you want to think he's a successful player than that's your view but I can't differentiate between ability and attitude and he lets himself down tremendously in his attitude.

If he changed his attitude I agree he's more than good enough at Championship level but I only go on what I see from him and he's not the player we need now or ever.

He might not be the right player for us at this point, but to say he is not a successful centre back is delulu.

Fair play to Faes, he don’t like us and we don’t like him but on the pitch he competes and looks to be trying his best, he could have bust a gut to get back for Prestons winner but even if he did I doubt he would have made a difference.

i didn’t boo him when he came on against Wednesday but I booed the **** out of him fit running over to us in the corner like a diva. He needs to realise we’re mainly working class fans who are living in tough times and he gets paid crazy money for playing a game. Perspective lad.

No I do not consider him as a success for us. Far from it.

I agree with this.  With Ndidi done Faes might be our best option for an aggressive ball-winning midfielder, and he also has the ability to rampage up the field (we are very lacking in a midfielder prepared to push forward quickly).

In order to accommodate this experiment we would need a strong CF pairing behind him - Nelson must be one of the two, possibly Okoli as the other.  It also requires Faes to be willing to try it; he may be loth to do it , classifying himself purely as a CB, and mindful of his international ambitions.
