I'm a big fan of what Jonny Evans has brought to us but I really hope he's kept well away from the starting 11 while Big Dan and Wout are playing so well. I really hope Brendan doesn't try and crowbar him into the side, we look a lot better without him as both Amartey and Faes have pace.

“Better” for us right now??
YES. He’s the perfect fit for us, and potentially a new club hero.

“Better”?? It’s certainly up for debate, but probably not, Fofana is a magnificent footballer, was always going to be with us for a short time.

Also I think the question is:

Faes + £62m OR Fofana??

I’d choose Wout everytime!!

I agree, you just know that Rodgers won’t be able to stop himself. Once fit, Evans is in.

Oh I don't know about that. We're in a ain't broke, don't fix it place. I'm sure Rodgers is pragmatic enough to see that, and he clearly likes Dan. Rodgers has got what managers call a good problem. So more manager speak; game at a time. Evans will get game time on Tuesday and we'll take it from there.

If I had to call it, I would probably say Evans will come back in but I really don't think it's as clear cut as that.

The most important thing is one actually wants to be here. Fofana quality player but poor attitude and acted shamefully to get a move though he has previous for doing this. Faes is also a leader on the pitch and would always prefer someone giving 100% for the club  than someone who thinks he is better than his team mates.

I hope so…. We’ll see! Is Evans fit and available for Tuesday then? I didn’t realise that

Good point. Tbh, I'd assumed he was on the basis of comments made in the Everton pre-match, but I don't know.

What’s the response been like in Belgium? Are people asking for him to go to the World Cup, or is he going under the radar?

He will normally be selected for the Belgian bench. Quite under the radar at the moment

I work with a few Chelsea fans, just asked one of them their thoughts on Fofana….

”Shit mate, another Maguire, you keep having clubs pants down flogging your crap to them for silly money 😂

They’ve said a couple of times they don’t rate him that highly, in their group anyway, they are a hard bunch to please.

This would be my team at the WC. But Martinez likes oldies too much...

Would Fofana be helping us keep clean sheets in a CB pairing with Amartey like Faes currently is? I personally don't think so.

Faes is a leader and reads the game really well. The amount of times he uses his first touch to get him out of trouble is brilliant. He carries the ball well out of defence and talks to Amartey constantly.

Fofana is rapid and uses his speed to make up for any errors he makes and is super strong for a young lad.

Both brilliant footballers however i think on a whole Faes is the better defender.

Fofana probably has the opportunity to play at a higher level for longer due to his speed.

Of course he aint better than fofana.

Have people forgotten how piss weak our defence actually was?

A decent Sunday league defender would have come in and had a positive effect.

Fonfans good moments for us we’re last ditch tackles and blocks after a mistake or becoming isolated. That’s is not the sign of a great Defender. Faes reads the game much better:

I agree with you. Faes does read the game much better. He’s more composed on the ball and he doesn’t get bullied off the ball. Positionally he is also brilliant. I’m not saying this because Fofana has gone, but watching Faes has made me realise that Fofana may have been slightly overrated by us.

Fofana conceded 6 goals in the 2 games he played for us this season 👍

Fair play to him getting a massive contract on silly money, but in football terms players really do need to stop listening to their agents and think about their football development too. Too many good young players are wasting their careers on the bench of a big club.

Can only hope the club can uncover equally good replacements for Tielemans and Maddison. It wil be tough but many thought we were stuffed after Fofana sodded off.

Someone's forgotten how often it was piss weak when Fofana played in it.

Yeah as someone else mentioned I love the way he does a fist pump or celebrates a block etc. That kind of stuff is great, not just for him but for the entire team. Its like a reward system which enthuses and lifts the other players.
