Faes better than fofana?

Depends what you want.

 

If you want total possession football, passing it round the back, confident on the ball, Man City-esque, Fofana's your man.

 

If you want a defender who loves defending, willing to do dirty work, stick a foot in, aggression, grab the game (and his teammates) by the scruff of it's neck, not shirk, all whilst geeing up, giving confidence and organising team mates, picking out positive, forward, effective passes, Faes is your man.

 

I know which I prefer and which is a better fit for us.

 

I know which the wider community of football would prefer which is a sad indictment of where the game is.

There’s no definitive answer because it depends what attributes you prefer. But I don’t miss that turncoat at all, and absolutely love Faes in the squad, so for me - yes.

Faes plays it forward with passing rather than "bringing" it out from the back.

 

Well the results are obvious, we are better with just him than just fofana.

No doubt that Fofana is the better player but Faes has been exactly what we needed. He’s providing the aggression thats been missing from the team for a good while. He sets a tone which has given everyone a lift.

Can't even remember who we played that night, but he definitely spoke very highly of him.

I like faes but Fofana was/is sensational for a player his age. 

 

I'd expect little Wes to become a top player the next few years.

 

That said I'm very happy we have someone as good as Faes.

Faes is far better and more dominant than Fofona at this stage, Fofona had a lot of errors in him although he is still a good prospect but Faes all round is better.

Fofana is proving to be a little injury prone, that alone puts Faes above him. Not only that he has all the attributes we needed at the back.

If Fofana and Faes were playing together then they would have discussed who goes to close down and when to stay. Faes I suspect has taken on the role of dictating how the center-backs operate and has built an understanding with Amartey where he mitigates his weakness. It is strange to hear people heaping praise on Amartey when most wanted him dropped and shipped out.

  Get the balance right and anyone can look capable, you can see both acknowledging each other when putting out fires, that comes with trust and understanding. If anything that Faes has brought to the club is the willingness to fight your corner and be prepared to back up the players around you, without having to wag your finger at them.

I'd say Fofana is more skillful and competent at bringing it out from the back, whereas Faes is more old skool Huth/Morgan type.

 

I love how Faes celebrates making tackles/clearances and he clearly loves his craft.

He arrived at such a difficult time.  Anyone else might have doubted their decision in joining us but he is clearly a very confident individual. I think that might be rubbing off on some other members of the team.
