Perez's reverse pass was indeed world class. He is a very difficult player to assess but it seems to me he should have been used mainly in midfield ,he is too lightweight to be a striker. Sadly its all too late now.

Went yesterday and have to say how good amartey and faes looked..soumare looked the part and Thomas and castagne did their jobs.

Refreshing turnaround

He’s too lightweight for midfield too - the area of the pitch where physicality is least of a concern is wide …. That’s where he’s been played ……and he’s still weak!

anyway, was a good pass but making it out to be hoddle esque is a stretch …..

His vision in tight spots is very high class , but as you say his lack of physicality has damaged his career. Why that is , I couldn't say . Maddison is of lighter build than he is but recently has begun to compete strongly for 50/50 balls and become a much more complete player.

Just an awesome win! Amartey in defence was absolutely brilliant

Fixed that for you Col, to make it more specific and help you write what you found too difficult.

He’s not a table thumper, doesn’t have fits along the touch line, doesn’t go whining to the press. Very rare he bundles out excuses…

In the last few games he’s let the players take the plaudits at the end of the game

Today last game before WCup, after the confirmation that this last period was successfull ,I reckon he thought he earnt the right to celebrate with the fans and also wanted to show his appreciation…To me his timing was perfect.

More like he thought he was safe from getting stick now. Always used to come over until the bad run set in. Either way, it’s good that unity has broken out again.

Bit OTT getting in the away end ain't it.

like prisoners turning up on a day release.

It's bonkers. I was working in Munich this week and managed to get a seat to watch Bayern vs Werder Bremen on Tuesday. 70,000 at the Allianz Arena. Excellent atmosphere. Bremen fans in their section noisy all the way through. Bremen fans in the 'home seats' able to celebrate their goal without any aggro. You can enjoy a beer at your seat. Reckon I saw about 10 Polizei.

Having watched Dawson's 'tackle' on Daker again, it's staggering the ref didn't immediately blow for the penalty. It was such an easy decision to call. Sort of decision (or lack of) that could've cost us points, eventhough Youri missed.

Did he even get booked? A straight red wouldn’t have been a big surprise.

Quite agree. We have always seen flashes from Soumare but now he is doing that more consistently and is doing a lot more off the ball. He seems to have got used to the pace of the game and I don’t know whether it’s a confidence thing but he seems to realise he can do well in this team.

I felt like this at the time. Why he didn’t give it straightaway as it was a clear foul and his studs were above the boot. I was hopping mad that he didn’t give a red.

I don’t think he said anything untoward in the past..

It was teaming not coming upto expectation,so some fans decided to start some

ridiculous campaign, and queried what was behind his interviews & statements,

then decided to put their own translation on things said…others like sheep bleeted

out some ridiculous importance stance & meaning to,every word he said..

I agree with you, and I basically made this point last weekend.

But, some supporters seemed to think that him making a few comments about fans making the players nervous / attributing bad performances to the weather would burn bridges.

For one, I don’t care what he has said in the past if we keep winning.

Best win yet and another clean sheet. Turn around almost mirrors the Great Escape. Hope Madders is OK for the WC.

It's even more remarkable because during the great escape season we were narrowly losing games whereas at the start of this season we were totally falling apart

Interesting match report on KUMB.  They think we won despite a much improved effort from their side.

What was different to most recent performances was the intent and the performance, both of which were much improved and West Ham can genuinely say they deserved a point from that game.

They were let down by poor composure in the final third, with poor finishing shining above all things as the biggest ill of the day. Paqueta, in particular, wasted decent chances, although it is also fair to say the home side struggled to really create anything clear-cut. There were openings, there were moments, but there were very few chances that absolutely should have been put away.

Leicester, on the other hand, created three or four, and scored two of them. They will feel very justified after recent seasons of dominating the ball against this West Ham team and losing to goals on the counter. Today, they were what West Ham once had been, but it seems this West Ham side is now stuck between what they were and what they feel they need to become, failing at both as they flounder.

The early signs were good, testing goal quickly and looking more positive than they have been, happy to carry the threat high up the pitch and take a few more risks defending in those forward areas, looking for the turnovers that have proven so successful against Leicester in recent seasons.

The somewhat bright start was soon forgotten when slack, sloppy defending returned. Leicester scored inside 10 minutes without really having to be good, although a sublime and subtle touch in the move really underlined why you take a player like Maddison to a World Cup.

Leicester caught West Ham napping twice on the counter in the game, to devastating effect. This one was less of a desperate breakaway than the second, but Leicester still pounced fast.

Maddison was central to it, rolling a little flick with the outside of his boot to open up the middle of the park and give Leicester the space to flow into.

The midfielder was later substituted with an injury, but thankfully that has been described as "precaution."

From memory Dawson's body may have been blocking the ref's view of feet and ball, so he was probably right, if in doubt, to let play go and rely on VAR.

But yeah......

1) Would love to have seen the 'linesman' frantically waving the flag like in the good old days...... prabably not allowed to now

2) Why did VAR take so long to alert the ref? West Ham nearly scored whilst they dithered, it was so obvious on a TV monitor.

edit..... would have been a laugh if they had scored........ bit of potential damage to council property though

He did get booked.

I thought is about right but now you mention it, I suspect Cags and others might have walked for the same. Not sure why I think that though,

True or not , they are getting nearly twice the gate we do. We cannot compete in the same market with our present stadium and there is absolutely no sign of action on that.

Ground itself is awful but the facilities are spot on, get a beer within about 2 minutes and no queue for the toilet at all. Our club could learn a lot from the catering side of it.

Shame about the location, atmosphere and away end.

I didn't see the game but I don't think I've seen a managerial turnaround quite like it. After that Spurs game he was doomed and it was only going one way. Fair play for him to turn it around as I thought it was too far gone. We're playing like it's 2019.
