You mean his team mate, that actually didn't do too badly.

Admittedly,  I'm not a Stroll fan

With 2 broken wrists and a broken toe!

Think Alonso was right in saying how well he did. Apart from nearly taking them both out mind you.

I hope the Aston's can keep the pace through the early part of the season and use the wind tunnel time effectively to stay there all season.

Nah, I still have my Maclaren cap with his name on from 2007? somewhere, brought it all the way from Wigston along with my love for him

I went to the Hungarian GP a few years ago and bought a Merc cap in support of Lewis because he was the best at the time.

It's in the bin.

I couldn't support Verstappen even if he was my son.

Fortunately he's not.

I don't think.

He's getting some stick online for this but....he's right isn't he:

Finishing 39 seconds ahead of the nearest non-Red Bull, and they weren't even pushing .

Barring mechanical failure or a first lap incident nobody else is winning a race this year.  What's even the point of the season TBH lol.  Will the FIA bring in some early reg changes to **** up Red Bull like they've done to Mercedes and Ferrari in the past!?

As for Mercedes, holy hell.  Deciding to ditch their car concept before the first green light of the season.  :

 https://www.skysports.com/f1/news/12472/12825186/mercedes-to-ditch-formula-1-car-concept-after-agreeing-with-lewis-hamilton-we-are-not-good-enough

Essentially pissed an entire winter and two years up the wall on a concept that never worked since day one.  Disaster.

Seeing their own customer team fly past them with their own engine, gearbox and suspension will have really smarted no doubt.

Russell got passed and dropped by Lance Stroll who had broken wrists FFS.

Stroll hasn't had half the credit he deserves today. Still carrying an injury that would definitely affect him driving a car, gets into it for the first time this season on Friday as opposed to Alonso who has had more track time than anyone on the grid in testing. Finishes within 15s(?) of him? Not bad for someone who apparently shouldn't be anywhere near F1 up against someone who is apparently one of the best drivers on the history of the sport.

Well you’ve got to wait until after another 5 years of Red Bull domination before you can complain about it without being massive hypocrites.

You loved the Mercedes years because your favourite driver was walking it in to an empty net every fortnight, well now it seems it’s someone else’s turn.

I like George but holy hell, that’s a really pathetic statement to make. What is it with Mercedes drivers and giving up so quickly? 😆

Hamilton, lap 2 in Spain, “guys I want to stop, I want to quit”

Russell, race 1 of the year, “we’re gonna lose every race, it’s over”

If we ever end up back in the trenches I ****ing hope these two aren’t on my side.

How else are you supposed to feel when up against cheating Red Bulls?

Although... they weren't just slower than the Red Bulls!!

I am curious on this; I wonder if something would be changed or altered to increase competition?

No need! Red Bull are already being punished with very limited wind tunnel time. The other teams have a real chance to catch up through development, which is why it’s so bizarre to rage quit after 1/23rd of the season.

Lol ‘rage quit’ - it’s a media interview. Everything every sportsman says to media is a contrived message to apply pressure or appease sponsors based on briefings, and certainly is not what they believe. As if Russell has quit after one race, he’s an elite level sportsman, likely sending  a message to the FIA that the half arsed ‘punishment’ to red bull was nonsense

Didn't they just spend a couple of hundred grand on some sandwiches and safety precautions for COVID? I don't really get why everyone is so arsed about it.

Nothing even remotely hypocritical.

Between 2014 and 2020 the average gap between 1st and 2nd in the championship was 68 points.

Verstappen won by 146 points last season.  Over twice as dominant as the Mercedes era average and 22 points more than Hamiltons most dominant season in 2020.

I mean fair play to them for nailing it but **** me they are making everyone else look like they belong in a different Formula.

To make matters worse we are now in the cost cap era which means teams can't even spend their way back in to contention now.  As it stands Red Bulls advantage could be locked in to 2026.

If Russell is right then no way that remains the case.

Yeh £400k over on catering. It’s more the principle, they blatantly lied and got caught out on this. And faced no real punishment. Who knows what more they've lied/lying about and not been caught for
