Well that would mean Newcastle paying about £1m per game for Tielemans between now and the end of the season for a player they can pick up for free in six months.

If we can get an offer of about £8m it's worth considering for us.

I think the risk for a team like Newcastle is they’d likely be competing with more big hitters if they opted to wait till his contract expires… hopefully a few lesser clubs feel the same and try to bag him for what in reality is still an absolute bargain price if it’s anywhere between 10/20m (we can but pray)

Newcastle have more money than sense, it would make no odds to them at all. However, having said that I don’t think he would want to go to Newcastle. If he was to stay in this country it would be for an already established top team.

Problem is that although we can accept an offer for Youri in January, he's under no obligation to agree to the transfer. In fact, from January, he's free to negotiate with any club that wishes to sign him for free in the summer. Same goes for Soyuncu.

If he made the difference between them being 4th or 5th then it would be worth every penny

Well if they knew for certain then yes but they don't know, they could easily finish top four without him or 5th with him.

If they want Tielemans in January then the fee becomes a poker game with everyones cards facing up, they have to pay enough to make it Leicester's worthwhile but also they know Leicester would be balancing the last chance to get a fee for him and possible relegation chances without him.

Personally I would deal at £10m especially if we can get this Ounahi for twice the money.

I think if he liked the Newcastle move he would go especially if there is nothing concrete in the pipeline. A chance to secure top four and a 5 year contract which secures him getting a career threatening injury in the six month limbo with us.

He seems the sort of character that would be happy to see us get a fee for him and I also worry about players who are seeking a move in the summer protecting themselves on the pitch and not quite giving it 100%.

I get what you mean, but their owners are canny business men. They lowballed us in the summer for a reason I reckon: if nothing else, to show Maddison, other players of his level, and other clubs that they are looking at that calibre of player, but will not pay over the odds. This isn't an early Man City situation: they clearly know what they are doing. Hiring Howe despite a lot of people dismissing him early on is evidence of that. There's been no influx of star names either, just very clever talent buying in Guimares, Botman and Pope.

I think people are seriously underestimating how smart Newcastle have been so far. As much as it still relies on their bottomless pit of cash, they're spending it the right way. It's annoying.

Not a fee that is a true reflection of his talent though. He's come this far running down his contract. I could be wrong, but I don't see him blinking now. I think he'll go on a free.

On topic:

Ounahi seemed like he got stuck in pretty well in the World Cup, despite his seemingly Mahrez-esque build. So surely more of a Tielemans replacement?

This signing feels like the old Leicester we know and love: track a player for a long time, jury is a bit out on him, but he might just be a diamond in the rough...

Id rather lose him for free next summer knowing we’re still a Premier League team then sell him for a pathetic £10 million and risk relegation

Neither are mutually assured, we could sell Tielemans and stay up or keep him and get relegated.

If we get a £10m offer it should be seriously considered especially if we know he will definitely go in the summer, you call £10m pathetic but it's not, it's reality for a player who will be worth nothing in six months.

Weve got a much better chance of staying up with Youri in the side then not. Thats worth alot more then £10 million

I really don't think Tielemans would be the difference between us being relegated or not. Despite the very odd wonder goal, he hasn't been much of an on field influence, bar the odd out of the blue performance for a long long time now.

Arguably we need to get used to life without him. I can't say we missed him against Liverpool and he didn't add anything when he came on either.

I see this line of argument plenty of times which makes the assumption that Leicester stay up with Tielemans and get relegated without him, neither is true.

Well let's look at it mathematically. On Betfair our implied chance of being relegated is 9.5%, you can agree or disagree with but that is what the global market thinks our chances of relegation are.

Where do you think that percentage goes if we sell Tielemans?
