I have often wondered how someone would accumulate 520 Away Priority Points given that you are awarded 1 point per away game attended, have I missed something?

If my maths is correct, 520 is not that difficult to have reached assuming you’ve been a STH for the last nine / ten years.

Nine x 50 plus 70 away games. That’s only say eight away games a year, out of approx 20.

How long has the 50 points for your ST renewal applied? I'm sure my mate was struggling to get a ticket for a european game due to the away points required, and he's had a ST for a good 20 years. 11 years and you're in the top bracket.  Although, I may be misremembering what he said.

50 points started on the current cycle in the 2014/15 season I believe. So a total of 450 points for being a STH since 2014/15. The brackets are effectively:

Priority (Significantly over 70+ aways in 9 years)

520+ (STH for 9Yrs +70 aways)

490+ (STH for 9Yrs +40 aways)

460+ (STH for 9Yrs +10 aways)

451+ (STH for 9Yrs +1 away)

All STH

It needs a refresh, someone who has had a ST for 9 years and gone to zero aways should not have more points than someone who has had a ST for 6 years and gone to 99 aways.

Maybe it’s a reward for having had a season ticket in the championship.

So if myself and my son are succesful at the end of this season in applying for a season ticket, we have essentially got to wait 9 years (in the existing scheme) before we have a realistic chance of obtaining away tickets for the better than average away days?

I've been in both camps i.e. wasn't an STH for all 9 seasons and didn't go to a lot of away games.

Now been a season ticket holder for a lengthy period and go to every away game I can.

So now I am plus 460 & marching towards 490.

BUT never understood why home STH was worth more than away points.

They should be even, then you are rewarded for going away, so then Away games should be worth 2 or 3 pts per game so that 19 away games are worth the same as 19 home games (or slightly more, maybe 3pts per game), it is skewed really heavily to home STH's.

Covered away points so many times, very hard to find a fair way.

If its based on the last 9 seasons then 13/14 isn't part of the equation any more.

Totally it and I say that as someone who benefits from the status quo

Oh look, it's another popular game where tickets will sell out quickly.

Time for a Foxestalk debate on priority points, part 4,422

The post is nothing to do with any game, I was just interested in how the away priority points system worked as it's not clear on the website

But in theory if they have gone to 0 aways and will continue to go to 0 aways why would it matter?

It was hypothetical to demonstrate objection to the overarching principle, not a specific case study.

Unfortunately not, as everyone ahead of you will also gain points in that 9 years so you will never get to the front of the queue.

Personally, I think it does need adjusting. I think having season ticket points and match point get reduced my a percentage each year would be fairer. So, a season points and games attended 9 years ago, would be worth less than points gained 8 years ago and so on. This still gives an some benefit to being a long time ticket holder, but means newcomers can build up points relatively quickly.

Also, it can be an issue being a parent where your kids have fewer priority points just because they were born more recently!

Well we will have at the end of the season but ofc the 9th round of ST renewals has already passed.

Our longest spell in the top flight since the 60s now.
