Price doesnt care about treating his opposition with respect with his arrogance and mind games after winning a leg let alone a set. He will gladly put off his opponent by standing there strutting his stuff for as long as he can before allowing the game to continue. As far as im concerned he deserves everything he gets

Hasn’t his wife and kids been subjected to threats? Like there’s pantomime villain and then there’s out and out abuse. Yesterday you had good guy Souttar getting dogs abuse for being Scottish.

Price isn't the only one that does that though. There are lots of tricks and mind games that players use but some of it is simply to enhance their own game, not disturb others.

Price's antics when celebrating do annoy a few of the players, which is also a reason he has clashed a few times. Anderson, Lewis etc.

I missed the Price vs Clemens game, did he seriously play the whole match with ear defenders on ?

If that is true obviously its bang out of order and nobody deserves that. In his interviews he comes across as a decent kind of human being. What he does on stage though is not right and he cant complain when things dont go his way as he is quick enough winding the crowd up if he thinks its in his favour

I actually like him, he gets a lot of bad rep for very little reason. It's now very OTT what the crowd do to him, very little respect shown. Yes boo him coming on, but don't do it every single out shot or sometimes throughout a leg.

If he wasn't playing Clemens I would probably back him, I like him as a player.

Plenty of other players are starting to get the boos and whistles whilst they are throwing now as well.

Something needs doing about it really.

Think he put them on when 3 sets to 1 down

Couple of surprise names in the he semi finals.
MVG looking unstoppable if he keeps this form up, best he’s played at the world championship for a while.

We can laugh and no doubt Price doesn't help himself sometimes but it's sad that he feels he has to block out the crowd because of the abuse.

Is booing someone abuse nowadays?

Don't necessarily agree with it put surely its part and parcel of of a sport that has made itself as much about the crowd interaction, atmosphere and drinking as it has the action on stage.

Price is an attention seeking bellend but I couldn't think of anything worse than being in a world championship darts crowd. Its a difficult one for darts because its what brings in revenue but crowds can't continue to be like this.

Goes with the territory,unfortunately....It's the only tournament we don't go to anymore...Masters(got tickets for),Grand Slam,Matchplay,Grand Prix are fine, just a pity that the pinacle of the game is ruined. But you can blame the PDC who have created this and don't seem to give a monkeys as long as the money keeps rolling in.

Is Barry Hearn still involved with the PDC? Its has his style written all over it, with the crowd involvement, the fireworks, the dancers on stage (cant believe they still do that). As has been said its the route the PDC have taken it down and the players are happy to take the winnings, (£500,000 to the winner this year) so they either need to accept the way the game is played now or they step aside and im sure there will be plenty of others waiting to step in.

When at the football we all love to boo or shout stuff at the opposition and that is the reason a lot of us go to watch any sport. Is 2000 people booing a darts player any worse than 60,000 football fans chanting about your wife or a disaster from 30 years ago any worse?

They banned them a few years ago, but everyone demanded they were brought back including the players.

I don't see why it's an issue personally. No different to cheerleading. One of the ex dancers recently said that the money from darts tournaments was 80% of her income.

If you watch Darts Gold on Sky with classic games from the last 30 years the places were always packed but the audience a lot more respectful and focused on the darts. It just doesn't seem the right setting for a football-type crowd.

It got a lot worse when it moved to the Ally Pally. To most of the people there it’s just a piss up with little interest on what’s actually happening on stage.

Circus Tavern was/is a great venue for Darts but a much smaller crowd and not as central as Ally Pally. Nowhere near as accessible for the fans coming over from abroad.

As I tried to show in the before/after video above the old way didn't generate the cash the modern one does.

Beaton lost at that stage (last 16) and got about 3500 for it. At Ally Pally its 10 times that amount at the same stage. Like it or not people coming through the doors of the venue and buying tickets at a large price all contributes to the prize money.

Without it the revenue would collapse and the PDC know it.

Gerwyn Price is trending so the likes of Hearn will be delighted with the publicity.

Yep,summed it nicely! The worlds and by extention the PL are the only 2 PDC events i wouldn't go to now.The worlds isn't really for darts fans anymore more" i've been their" or pissed up xmas partys, and then the PDC milk that for the Premier League...which is a glorified exhibition. But saying that there are plenty of better ways to watch darts, the masters kicks off in Milton Keynes at the end of Jan and the Euro Tour is brilliant!
