New Years Resolutions 2023

Whisky in the bath, like your style.

I was lucky enough to be gifted a Nikka Taketsuru pure malt 17.  That was sublime but all gone now.  I'm not a hoarder or collector, it's there to be drunk.

Have you tried any of the Kavalan stuff?  Taiwanese distillery.  The soloist stuff is delicious but pricey.  But even some of the less expensive stuff like the ex bourbon cask is great.  Real tropical fruit vibes.

The price of whisky has become ridiculous over the past few years.  I've started experimenting with rums now as they aren't so outrageous!

You sir are the real deal! Googled the pure malt 17, you’re very lucky. Also googled the Kavalan distillery and subsequently the Taiwanese section of master of malt. Will be ordering something from that range tomorrow. Cheers for the tip

No bother.  Hope you enjoy it, great distillery and a bit different.

Weymouth has 2, a short stagger away from each other.

Then Dorchester has one, and Bridport another.

I can say they are really destination pubs though, especially not with the beautiful and unique pubs we have down here.

I know, William Henry and the Swan. Ticking off those two pubs aswell as Weymouth fc is a good shout for being on my 2023 list.

Go on... whats yours, and what do you think of mine (bear in mind I weigh 125kg, and am 40 years old, and just a tad inactive, suffering with depression)

***NEW YEARS GOALS***
3,000,000 steps in 2023 (previous year approx 2,200,000 steps)

Break daily step record of 18,120 (23/9/2022)

Break weekly step record of 62100 (Aug 2022)

1 hour per week beach cleaning

Dry periods between Jan 4th and Feb 10th inclusive and the month of October

I have a feeling this is going to be.... emotional

Think you'll smash those.

I like how you've pre-decided the dates, I think we need parameters, but when it gets to February 11th see if you can stretch it one more day, and then one more day, and then one more day. I've often found I successfully complete those dry periods and then go fvcking balls deep again, relentlessly, as soon as the period is over. Usually drinking more than I was before. And in that case, am I really better for abstaining? Just one more day.

With the step goals, rather than focusing on 3,000,000 in 2023, focus on 8,300 a day, every day.

This is one of my favourite topics and I know from experience how fragile NY resolutions can be, but I adore that desire in any of us to make positive changes. And the hope and belief that we can follow through on them! I've got too many goals / resolutions to list (they're nicely laid out on Excel) but the main mantra is about eliminating the bad shit this year - max 1 alcohol drink a week, max 1 fast food a week (I usually hit McDonalds at least 5 times/week), and see if I can go the whole distance without porn or stupid mobile phone games which have fvcked my productivity up no end over the years. I think the best substitute is going to be exercise - so gym, running, cycling plans are all set up and ready to go.

And maybe I'll try a little less shitposting in the Formula 1 thread.

Dorchester Town FC is so close by...  along with the Royal Oak.   Who knows, you might be able to get a "Derby".

My New Years Resolution is one I am determined to stick to…

For next year I don’t want my job to take over my life. Life is not worth it. This year I was working long hours, constantly thinking about work and never able to switch off as I was always so stressed and hardly had any time off.  Family life was affected as I was always too tired to do simple stuff with the kids, see other family etc…

Good luck, this is an excellent aim.

As they say, nobody lies on their deathbed saying "I wish I'd spent more time at work."

Anyone over the age of 20 who still makes NY resolutions needs to evaluate their lives!.

Not being harsh, but if you've not done it in the last year, odds are any resolutions you make wont last into March!

•Trying to change the most negative mentality in the world.
•Pass my driving test

•Be able to talk to girls without being genuinely scared

•Get and hold down a full time job

•To try and enjoy life rather than endure it

•Lose some weight

Thats just a small part of my list to be honest.

Evaluating their lives is exactly what they're doing, and deciding there are things they'd like to change.

Why does it take people til 1st of Jan to do it?

If you know something  needs changing do it when you realise.

Anyway I don't need anyone else giving me a lecture on it and stating the bloomin obvious!

Goid luck with everyone making NYR, hope they work and you dont try the same the year after!!!

I guess I’m pretty content overall but just the usual stuff- get fitter, save more cash (RIP Football shirts, still a few days left to stock up), get a new job etc etc.

Might try not to get too angry at Brendan as well but that could be setting the bar a little bit higher than I want.
