Did anyone else get a long fan engagement survey drop in their inbox today? Some worthwhile ques, took about 20 mins to complete

Nothing as of yet. Is it random selected or do all STH's get it?

Yeah.

Let's just say, I didn't hold back.

You can't force fans to scream, shout and chant. Much of it is that as fans we behave and grow up different to generations years ago. Generally people are more sedate, hyperstimulated by phones, entitled and want to be entertained by something they feel detached from.

It's why this is not unique to Leicester and is this topic of chat is replicated across all 92.

I know we're primarily only interested in our own fanbase, but thinking about the cyclical nature of things.   Just take one example: Stoke City.

In the early/mid 1970's, they great support.  They by the early/mid 1980's, it was absolutely terrible.  As quiet a home ground as any.   When they got relegated to the 3rd Division it really took off again, and by the early 90's the Victoria Ground was as loud as anywhere.  Absolutely rocking.   I went there in 1993 and the noise of Delilah was off the scale.  They still had a great atmosphere in the early days of their new ground, but now the place is like a morgue.   You wouldn't say Stoke are not passionate, but at the moment their atmosphere is rubbish.   I don't know what Stokies think about it, but as an outsider it just seems that they're at the bottom of the cycle.

I agree with the post expect for the fact that we are as far away to Stoke as you can be. Whilst they were getting relegated and staying in the championship, we were getting promoted, winning the premier league, playing in the champions league, winning the fa cup, challenging for top 4 and trophies yet our atmosphere is as if we have headed in stokes direction

Not yet but remember filling out last season's.

Also felt like I didn't hold back but also don't recall seeing any outcomes or conclusions of the survey (not saying there wasn't, just don't recall any big changes planning to be made).

Speaking of the Ulloa chant, surely we can integrate Buanonnette into it instead of Leonardo

Oh his name is Buonanotte

Leicester’s new number fortyyy

Yes he’s on loan for the season

But he scores goals so that’s alright with me

In fairness when they first went up to the Premier League their atmosphere was the best in the country comfortably. It's a fair point. I went to a couple of games of theirs a few years ago with a mate who supports them, Championship games against Swansea and Rotherham and honestly I've had this fear ever since that it's what we could become if we aren't careful, and I really do fear we're on the road to that to a degree. Though I do think our fanbase is quite substantially bigger than theirs so it can never quite dip to that - but anyone who was there last season will know what I mean. It's a depressing place for a home fan.

Those old style atmospheres don't exist anywhere anymore.

I would also say the younger generations coming through are not as passionate as they were back then.

More distracted by technology and more easily put off from singing.

That old style British football atmosphere is dead regardless of cycle

Non league seems to be able to keep a more old style British atmosphere with plenty of young lads joining in.

The past decade or so I've attended games at Nuneaton, Wrexham , Gateshead and just this session Kettering. All seem to produce a cracking atmosphere for the size of the crowd.

Its probably no coincidence that the lads at these games have probably been able to get in the ground for a couple of quid from a young age, with their mates and congregate together, without having to buy a membership, attend with an adult.  Likely still affordable for people in late teens and early twenties too who are on a relatively low wage.

Yea, I went Coalville a few times last year and would say that's one of the negatives of getting in to non league football.

It just ( almost ) ending on the say so of one man regardless of reasons.

That and hearing about the top end part time players almost admiting to not wanting to get promoted knowing their team would go full-time. 😒

I was in the away end when we got relegated and they got promoted and was quite disappointed with their atmosphere. Was expecting a lot more. Maybe it's because it was 0-0 so they didn't get a chance to properly lift off. They made some noise on the pitch at the end.

I grew up from an early age going to Rushden and Diamonds in the non league era and throughout their league two days. The majority of the grounds I’ve done with them and seems strange watching Luton, hull, Oxford etc doing well now.
I wanted a local team to be proud of and when they went bust in 2010 that’s why I’m a late supporter to Leicester. But with everyone talking about non league in here brings back the memories and if I could go back in time and wish I’d still be on the nene park terrace I would.. as much as I enjoy Leicester and the away days, I’ll always think what if…

Sadly football ain’t about the love of the game anymore even in 2010, it’s a rich man’s game and greed

Seems to be growing in Scotland, too.

Supporter culture is going through the roof in Scotland thanks to almost every team now having a fully active ultras group with hordes of young lads getting involved.

Rangers and Celtic kicked it off, and the rest followed. It's the accepted norm now. It's pretty incredible how quickly it's blown up there.

Aberdeen were the real pioneers, but the Old Firm involvement really kicked it on loads and you say.

Scottish people are more up for a enjoying themselves than English people in general, and also get that football's meant to be fun. Plus, they get that bouncing all game will make you warmer than standing still looking moody, checking your bets all game and getting the badge in for Insta likes.

And the big advantage they have is the clubs (for the most part) actively work with them.

A former ultra was employed by Aberdeen as a ' Supporter Experience Manager' - whilst our club don't even want leicester fans employed.

England used to be light years behind Germany, Sweden, Italy etc...Now we're light years behind scotland, very sad, but great for our Scottish neighbours.

Yeah I wouldn’t use that ultra fella as a good move by Aberdeen. He’s well utterly turned out like one of the bands you like but then they sell themselves out.

One of the big reasons I think it’s caught on in Scotland is that there is no drinking at all in the stadiums. The concourses are empty unless you want a pie

Why what's happened?
