Most important goal in clubs history

I was thinking with there being a good chance of relegation and some massive games coming up that there will be a very important goal scored at some point

 

But what do people think is the most important goal in our history?

 

I'm going to go after some thought with vardy's winner at West brom in the Great escape season 

 

Without that we don't win the league, fa cup etc

Title season I would say was probably ulloa v Norwich

This. We would have won the league comfortably without that result anyway.

 

OP, Vardy vs WBA in the great escape season is hard to beat but my alternative goal would be Ulloa’s pen vs West Ham, felt so much pressure that day when we were down to 10 playing against 11 and Jon Moss. That gave us a huge boost to get over the line

For me this is the goal that determined how the rest of the season went. If we didn't win that after what had just happened with Arsenal, I think we could have crumbled. It really felt huge at the time.

It's hands down the most enjoyable goal ever scored in a match not involving Leicester, but that's a different list.

Not sure any of the goals in the great escape / title winning season really count. 

 

We won the league by 10 fvcking points, that's not a title race its a procession. And "great escape" is almost as big a myth, we were 14th in the end and safe before the final day. Its not like we scraped up with some last ditch winner. 

 

I'd probably have to pick one of the cup final or play off final winners or Tony James. For recency bias it's probably Youri, otherwise Claridge vs Palace sets us up for the years that follow which were ultimately the peak of most of our (the majority demographic of this forum, sorry davieG)  lives before the Thai ownership.

A lot of recency bias in this but I’m going off piste and I reckon Vardy’s goal away at QPR in December 2013. That’s the goal that started it all I reckon. Gave us the confidence to go on and sew the league up and get us back in the top flight.

If we lose that what happens with O'Neill? I don't think we'd have gone on to have the success we did if Claridge doesn't score that goal.

Loved the commentary of that goal. I was at uni and watching it with my flat mates at the time and none of them could get their head around why it seemed to mean so much.

There's been plenty at different points in our history, those that prevented relegation and secured promotion or titles or trophies. Someone mentioned the Ulloa goal v Norwich in the title winning season and I suppose quite a few goals that year could make the list. Dyer v Villa, Morgan away at Man Utd (which actually won the title), but the one that sticks in my mind is Ulloas penalty v West Ham. 2-1 down at home and Vardy sent off. He stepped up and nervelessly smashed it home. Even under the toughest circumstances we proved we had the fighting spirit and wouldn't be beaten.
