I've been Rudkin out since the 14 seconds debacle , and through gritted teeth he's finally doing his job , has Top given him a kick up the arse and told him his job is on the line of he doesn't get deals done

This Hermansen deal doesn't look the best...

I seem to remember Enzo saying we needed more footballing knowledge in the club - and thats what Rudkin lacks

Enzo also said (through Ballague) that for a club to compete at the top level the offices had to be filled with elite-minded people, not just the dressing room

It's one thing to give credit where it's due, but A) we left this until a month after most clubs had started doing business and B) we've now left things so late that clubs will be able to have our pants down knowing we need to make signings - Kone probably being the prime example.

A competent DOF would have ensured we were ready to get our managerial target through the door as soon as finances allowed. Which us binning RVN days before the end of the financial period shows wasn't even our plan anyway, after three MONTHS of us performing mental gymnastics to explain him staying on past relegation. I've yet to see evidence that Marti (or whoever our prior targets were) was spoken to in advance to ask who he wanted for the squad.

To have only seriously STARTED the managerial search AFTER sacking Ruud, something everyone on planet earth knew was coming, is the latest in a string of incompetencies. Having King around for pre-season has been a handy smokescreen for the lack of action, since we all love him and he's an agreeable face to put on socials to distract those who don't ask questions.

The long and short of it is - yes, good work so far trimming the fat, but Cifuentes now faces an uphill battle to get the players he wants in, and certainly has run out of time to bed them in through pre-season.

If Kone and Brownhill come in then fair play, but they should have both been here weeks ago.

Some cheap dates on here, doing a sub par job after not doing it all isn't good.

We only reactively sell players whereas good DoFs get them out the door proactively.

Yep 70 Odd days of doing nothing, just one of hundreds of things if he worked for a real business in his position he would have been fired for.

Had a dream that this pillock was trying to whitewash his reputation with some flash Youtube content revealing his love of music, showing him jamming on guitar in the city centre with The Libertines.

Today's an absolute write-off.

Sorry but not happening.

Only ones leaving will be the ones we should be keeping if we want to challenge at the top end. Incomings also unlikely.

Instead we will move out 3 - Winks, Fatawu and BEK and bring in 3 x 30 somethings on a free.

They were all signed under Rudkin's tenure TBF.

Not to say he doesn't deserve criticism, but we can't just say "all things bad are Rudkin, but Rudkin has nothing to do with any good things".

I think the pivot to older players was a Steve Cooper thing. Hasn't been the recruitment strategy before or since.

I genuinely think you can! Almost all seemingly positive/good decisions have come out in the wash as being pure luck.

There's a devil advocate view that maybe our man Jon might have been encouraging certain ways of working but his master often disagrees, gets persuaded by others and recklessly makes decisions.

Interesting theory ….. if true surely there comes a point where if you are Rudkin you step away from the role even if it’s a sideways step, not sure he gets paid enough to be the fall guy for someone’s else’s piss poor decision making.

Skipp was truly bizarre business. It was clear he wasn’t worth even half of what we payed, us fans thought as much when the link was made. So why pay that when we had financial issues? Surely you’d just accept potential relegation rather than think skipp would be the saviour.

Also, quite annoyed we’ve not gone in for Kone. Sounded like the perfect fit albeit I’ve not watched him.

The bad aspects is we have to massively weaken our squad this year because of previous incompetence, we are constantly floundering to cover for previous cock ups. Failing to go up this year I think leads to a period of 10 year+ in the wilderness, which is fine if thats what people are after, but any other view of us making a comeback in the next 5 years is delusional, it would be 10 to 20 years.

The leadership failures are a result of Rudkin and co's ineptitude yet still they are here.

£2M for Coady is still less the amortisation we had remaining for him, so that's a loss...without even mentioning the obscene wages he's been on for two seasons, offering very little.

Nidid has worked out well, but we wouldn't have been laughing had we'd stayed up last season, Ndidi had got back to his best and then we lost him for £8M.

Mads is leaving for about £10M less than he should be.

Meanwhile, we are still lumped with Vestergaard, Soumare, Faes, Kristianson, Ayew, BBR, Justin, Daka etc.

No credit should be heading anywhere near Rudkin

It's the cycle of decline we're stuck in. Rudkin performs terribly with no risk to his job, we get worse, he occasionally does something 'OK' and the bar for what is seen is 'OK' has come so far down that people don't even realise it.

I'd be interested in hearing a situation anything like the one we have with Rudkin. There is literally no level of performance he can put in that would get him out.

I think he's complete rubbish but that is literally his one route to any sort of respectability for me, if this is true.
