Social Media Use/Twitter

Organisations have customer management systems which allow them to link social media accounts to customers etc. Enables efficient responses/resolutions when said customer approaches said organisation via that account.

If someone has dm'd a company on twitter then their twitter handle will be linked to their customer profile.

As for monitoring of social media, yes enables orgs to monitor how they are doing/interaction positive/negative. This may also focus on social media profiles which are linked to customer profiles. This is automated. I don't know the full details, it was a while since i looked at it.

So yes, it is plausible. Are the club using such systems? I would be surprised if they were not.

I haven't seen the tweet in question, but theres nothing stopping the person in question sticking in a subject access request to the club to see what they are/have been monitoring.

That might well be so, but in this case, i very much doubt the club have employed a customer management system to ban someone for 4? games for a derogatory comment on twitter, and besides that, why's the fan even admitted it. There is something more underlying about all this, there's a story that's not being told somewhere.

It’s crazy how our club is being run, policed at the minute. Too many people there have got a bit to power crazy and think they can do what they want. I’m glad I’m no longer on twitter.

Or you’re just ‘Invisible’ on there…

Can ANYONE that this has happened to actually come forward? If not, then I'm calling BS.

It’s not bullshit, I know the person and have seen the letter.

I’ve deleted my twitter as it was a reply on my account which got one of them banned. Some right rats out there.

Go on then. What was the reply? Was your tweet okay?

I somehow didn’t get banned lol. I jokingly said I was going to spend my Sunday trying to hack the official Twitter account and change the picture to a Rodgers Out flag. Someone suggested a password which involved a couple of people from the club.

Didnt warrant a 10 game ban in my opinion.

The posts have been deleted and people are rightly wary of resharing them in public as it could also lead to a punishment for themselves. It’s very very murky water.

Well the only assumption from that is that the posts are not as “innocent” as people are trying to make out they are

The comment was not entirely innocent, of course. BUT only a first name was used, no tagging of any individual or the club. Nothing said was directly aimed at anybody.

There is no way the club can prove it was even about one of their employees.

The letter is also a disgrace as others have said, lots of the use of the word ‘allegedly’ and then straight to a season ban prior to any warning, meetings etc. first.

Lol @ people confusing freedom of speech with freedom to say whatever you want whenever you want without any consequences, which funnily enough is not real.

The Leicester banning way.

A mate of mine had a 3 game ban because of a reason that I won’t give as it’ll be obvious to the club who I’m referring to. Let’s just say it was ridiculous

He has had to sign an agreement where he won’t stand or swear at the football, and will not criticise the club or its players on social media either. (He was Rodgers fan until the last too, so it’s not like he had previous for it)

Like a total idiot he’s signed it too, because he’d lose his season ticket otherwise.

I have no idea what’s becoming of our club, but countries go to war to fight against this type of behaviour

Personal details being published?

On reading the OP my initial thought was, "can I believe that there are 10 fans who are nasty enough and stupid enough to get themselves banned?"

And the answer I came up with was, "only 10?"

Edit: having re-read the OP I realise no actual number was mentioned and I've got the 10 match ban in my head. Which does of course mean it could we be less than 10...

Having to delete your Twitter to make sure you don't get banned due to offending someone at the club lol

This club has gone mad.

This is @Costock_Fox though.

The words "sooner or later" spring to mind

Interesting - they have very vague wording in relation to what they can ban for on their own channels, particularly any 'other behaviour that the Club deems inappropriate on its channels'.

'If you use online abuse on non-LCFC media channels, towards the Club, our players, or staff, you will be reported to the social network company and if you are a Season Ticket Holder, Member, or match by match purchaser of tickets to Club fixtures, you will receive automatic match bans and will be referred to LCFC Sanctions & Appeals Committee.'

So unless your tweet was directly on their official social media account, then there is a justifiable argument that it cannot possibly be misconstrued as abuse, which is the only social media reason to be banned outside of their official channels.

The freedom to take the consequences is the one upon which all the others are based..
