Twitter really is the cesspit for negative Selby talk, people acting if Selby is constantly boring and Mark Allen needs to be a saviour to Snooker, when Mark Allen himself has adopted a pretty conservative approach in this match.

 

Selby yet again is showing why he is a beast over this format, to be a World Champion you usually need a A & B game, that’s why the likes of Selby & Higgins are on 4 and as Lionator stated, some more open attacking players are on 0 or 1.

 

Of course it’s not over till it’s over, but Selby is properly turning the screw on Mark Allen here, he did exactly the same to Gary Wilson & Higgins in this tournament, able to find a burst to pull himself away by using various facets of his game.

I didnt mean supporting selby because he was from leicester but defending his style of play...i know people will say it has nothing to do with where he's from...i beg to differ though.:P

When he kept saying he didn't understand the shots Selby was choosing. Well yeah that's why Selby is a 4 time, potentially 5 time world champion who was number 1 for 4 years straight and he pratted about on TV with a racist comedian playing trick shots lol

Allen made a small break, followed by a mini safely battle which ended with a poor safety shot from Selby, Allen messed up the chance on the red, Selby looks like he's gone clean up and take the frame. If it was any other player nobody would be talking about grinding someone down.

I meant in the match in general.

 

Though saying that I dont think Selby has massively needed to do that. Allen has played well in the tournament compared to his play earlier this season bar patches of the Bingham match, know thats seems odd seeing as its only the second time he's got to the semis.

Crazy thing is, as much as I champion Selby as much as i do and really want him to win world title number 5, there is no other player that winds me up the way he does, I've never known a player this good that breaks down so often when so close to winning a frame lol

Yeah, but how many times has Selby managed to teach a housewife from Crewe to down the brown for a brand new, top of the range microwave!
