Surely the BBC can do better than John Virgo on comms.

He's the Martin Tyler of snooker.

Bin him off.

I know he gets stick but I still like him. He's getting a bit old and doddery and often lapses into catchphrases, but he's no worse than someone like Dennis Taylor.

And I'd take him any day over Eurosport's Joe Johnson who thinks he knows better than every pro out there on shot selection and way to play.

Willie Thorne was one I didn't like either, even though I liked the man. Purely because he suffered from verbal diarrhoea and never shut up.

There's loads worse than Virgo still out there IMO. Even some of the newer current players who give it a go, like the dreary Joe Perry.

At 77 and 74 respectively, I think it's probably time they both sailed off into the sunset, enjoyed their retirement, and let some new blood have a go.

The BBC were supposedly going to bin him off but they reversed the decision.

Snooker professionals and many fans wanted him to remain.

Fair enough.

Personally I'm a bit bored of his dulcet tones after 40 odd years, but that's just me...

Couldn't agree more. It's all about him isn't it? He seems most intent on getting a laugh out of the audience with their earpieces.

Absolutely hate that.  He also loves the idea of orchestrating the crowd by saying stuff like 'the crowd will give him a huge reception once this goes in', as if they wouldnt have done anyway, complete antithesis of big di ck energy

Loving the respect between these two players. Proper sportsmanship on display

I know it’s not sexy but honestly I find games like this the most tense, captivating games of snooker. Allen has been even worse than Selby. You cannot outlast Selby in snooker. You have to be super aggressive and hope for luck.

Supporting Si in the final should he get there, breath of fresh air compared to Selby who's gone into tortorous snooker mode again, that's not for me. Allen is playing like Selby is his idol lately too.

Si Jiahui’s confident demeanour has impressed me in the past, but this is truly remarkable Snooker that he is producing, a joy to watch right now.

Mark Ebdon....

I've decided to watch the F1 I have recorded instead.

I once watched Ebdon spend 6 minutes to make a break of 12. Selby is lightning by comparison lol

It is funny when you see that break of 12 compared to Ronnie’s 147 lol

I think he was playing O'Sullivan at the time. I mean I can't comprehend it taking 6 minutes to score 12 points. People moan when safely battles last 5 minutes but at least people are taking shots. How much time must Ebdon have spent looking at and lining up shots lol

Si and Brecel aren't going to die wondering. Both are going for absolutely everything.

Both brilliant, regardless of what happens in this semi final I hope they are close to the top for years to come
